Guide
This trial can be undertaken with other players or with a party of NPCs through Duty Support. If using Duty Support, you will begin the battle with one stack of Willful. If you would be KO'd, instead a stack of Willful will be consumed to ignite the Will to Live, immobilizing you and protecting from most damage for several seconds. Note that falling off the arena will reset the battle regardless of this buff. If you wipe after being in combat for at least ? minutes, you will start with an additional stack of Willful.
Tural Vidraal: Valigarmanda
During the battle, the boss will cycle between ice and thunder mini-phases, each with their own set of mechanics.
- Body animation attacks: Basic attacks indicated by the animation of the boss with late AoE telegraphs. The first time these attacks occur, a warning message will appear on the screen. Being hit of these will inflict Sustained Damage and a stack of Trauma. Receiving 2 stacks of Trauma will immobilize the player for a few seconds with Concussion, which can be cleansed with Esuna.
- A tempestuous wind surrounds Valigarmanda... The boss begins circling the arena while wind gathers around it, indicating a donut AoE (Strangling Coil) with the middle of the room safe.
- Valigarmanda gathers its strength... The boss hovers its claws above the arena indicating a large point-blank AoE (Slithering Strike) with the safe region out of melee range.
- Blinding energies build within Valigarmanda's wide-open beak... The boss opens its mouth, gathering energy, indicating a wide conal AoE (Susurrant Breath) with the safe spots in the top corners.
- Ice Talon: Telegraphed AoE tankbusters targeting both tanks. Inflicts frostbite for 15s.
- Skyruin: Party-wide magical damage and transitions the arena to begin thunder or ice mini-phase. Will also inflict electrocution or frostbite damage-over-time respectively for 12s.
Thunder phase
The arena will become a 4x3 grid of tiles. The four corner tiles and two middle tiles will glow, causing any player who stands in them to receive Levitation.
- Thunderous Breath: An AoE that covers the entire arena. Can only be dodged by standing in a levitation tile.
- Hail of Feathers: Drops 4 feathers on the arena, each one dealing party-wide magical damage.
- Blighted Bolt: Bolts of lightning fall upon the battlefield... Each player standing on a levitation tile will be hit with a small AoE. This can be avoided by leaving the tiles. Meanwhile, the feathers will each explode in a late telegraphed point-blank AoE.
- Valigarmanda summons arcane circles of thunder... Summons five untargetable Arcane Sphere adds, each of which will use a late telegraphed line AoE horizontally across the platform (Arcane Lightning), leaving a single safe gap. In repeats of the thunder phase, this can coincide with Thunderous Breath, requiring players to find the safe lane while also standing in one of the Levitation zones.
- Disaster Zone: Party-wide magical damage and returning the arena to its original state.
Ice phase
The arena will become snowy.
- A rumbling avalanche approaches from the southeast/southwest... Spawns blue arrow telegraphs in the corresponding direction, indicating a late telegraphed avalanche AoE that will hit that part of the arena and knock back anyone hit.
- Freezing Dust: Gives players a 2 second Freezing Up. Players need to be moving for the duration of the debuff or they will be stunned with Deep Freeze.
- Valigarmanda summons arcane circles of ice... Summons two untargetable Arcane Sphere adds, each of which will emit 8 blue lines outward to their cardinals and intercardinals, indicating late telegraphed line AoE (Arcane Chilling Cataclysm), leaving safe areas between. A safe spot from both sets of line AoEs must be located, as they fire simultaneously.
- Disaster Zone: Party-wide magical damage and returning the arena to its original state.
In-between phase
- Ruinfall: Spawns a dual tankbuster tower in the middle, a telegraphed knockback from the north, and circle AoE telegraphs at the south.
- The tanks will need to soak this tower with mitigation, then move north and avoid being knocked back into an AoE.
- The rest of the party will deal with the knockback while avoiding the tower and AoEs.
- The knockback can be prevented with knockback immune actions.
- Skyruin is used again and transitions the arena to the other phase, ice or thunder.
Normal arena 2
- Ruin Foretold: Summons three immobile adds, a Flame-kissed Beacon, a Thunderous Beacon, and a Glacial Beacon These need to be destroyed before Valigarmanda's Ruinous Power reaches 100.
- During this sequence the boss will used telegraphed conal AoEs, leaving safe gaps in between. These will alternate which conal "lanes" are safe. The boss will also repeatedly use Calamitous Cry, a line stack AoE on random players dealing magical damage, requiring the group to move together to avoid the cone AoEs and attack the Beacons, while remaining stacked to split the line AoE damage.
- Tulidisaster: Three hits of party-wide damage. Will wipe the party if the adds were not killed in time.
- After this attack, each player will be inflicted with Perpetual Conflagaration, causing damage-over-time and increasing damage taken for the remainder of the fight.
- Eruption: Three sets of circle AoEs baited on two players.
The thunder/ice phases will play out again using Skyruin to transition the arena and Disaster Zone to revert it.
Thunder phase 2
Similar to the first thunder phase, but some mechanics will be combined with others.
- Thunderous Breath / Arcane Spheres: Players will need to stand on a levitation tile while in an empty gap away from the Arcane Sphere line Aoes.
- Susurrant Breath / Arcane Spheres: Players will need to dodge the line AoEs then move to the north corners.
Ice phase 2
Similar to the first ice phase, but some mechanics will be combined with others.
- Avalanche / Arcane Spheres: Players will need to avoid both the avalanche and Arcane Sphere starburst line AoEs at once.
- Freezing Dust / Arcane Spheres: Players will need to avoid the Arcane Sphere AoEs and keep moving to avoid being frozen.
Mechanics repeat until the boss is defeated.
