The Four Lords
Legend tells of a peerless samurai who, at the behest of a king, ventured forth to drive a host of oni into the sea. Yet for all his strength, Tenzen could not do this alone, and so he turned to the Four Lords─greatest of the auspices─for assistance. Together they succeeded, and afterwards journeyed west, far from the realms of men, to live out their days in solitude. A faerie tale, perhaps...but often in such tales a kernel of truth can be found.

Trivia
- This trial series has several references to Final Fantasy XI.
- Tenzen has an identical appearance to his FFXI counterpart, and both wield the Phoenix Blade.
- The hub zone for this trial series, Reisen Temple, seems to be a reference to the far east region Reisenjima in FFXI, which is also where FFXI's Tenzen is from.
- The music played at Reisen Temple is the theme for Iroha, a temple preistess from Reisenjima that has ties to Tenzen.
- The positions that the Four Lords stand in while idling at the temple, and during certain cutscenes, correspond to the Four Symbols they are based on: the Black Tortoise of the North, the White Tiger of the West, the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South.
- These are also (approximately) the spawn positions of their Notorious Monster counterparts in Ru'Aun Gardens in FFXI.
