Though their beloved god was slain at the hands of the Warrior of Light, the Sahagin have wasted little time in mourning his passing. Drawing on the occult knowledge of the Ascians, the scaly beastmen have performed a foul ritual fueled by blood and sacrifice to bring forth the mightiest incarnation of Leviathan the realm has yet seen. Before the ocean deity can summon a tidal wave of catastrophic proportions, the Whorleater must once again set sail for open waters─and for victory.

— In-game description

The Whorleater (Extreme) is a level 50 trial introduced in patch 2.2.

Lord of the Whorl: Leviathan

This fight will share multiple abilities from the hard version, but multiple new, deadlier attacks will be added. Additionally, the safety railings of the platform will eventually break, adding the risk of players being knocked off the platform to their death.

Leviathan Abilities
Name Description
Leviathan's Head Will buff itself with Veil of the Whorl, reflecting Physical Ranged damage.
Leviathan's Tail Will buff itself with Mantle of the Whorl, reflecting Magic damage.
Dread Tide A line AoE cleave aimed at the player with the highest enmity against Leviathan's Head.
Water Spout Hits both healers with unavoidable, unmarked circle AoEs.
Tidal Roar Unavoidable damage to the entire party.
Body Slam A spout appears by a random corner of the platform. Leviathan slams the platform, knocking all players roughly 60% of the length of the platform towards the spout.

Being directly underneath the Body Slam will deal high damage to the player.

Briny Veil The player with the highest enmity against Leviathan's Tail will be debuffed with Briny Mirror. Players who heal the afflicted will gain stacks of Briny Veil for 45 seconds.
  • Each stack of Briny Veil reduces the range of healing spells. At 16 stacks, players will be unable to cast spells at all.
Grand Fall Large simple circle AoEs that telegraph the start of Spinning Dive. Will inflict Heavy for 30 seconds, which can be cleansed with Esuna.
Spinning Dive A spout will appear on one random side of the platform, after which Leviathan dives straight across, dealing high damage, knockback, and inflicting Water Resistance Down.
  • If not part of a phase change, Leviathan will do two Spinning Dives followed by a Body Slam.
  • If following a Gyre Spume (Phase 1) spawn or Wave Spume (Phase 2) burst, only one Spinning Dive will be used from the north or south side, followed by a Tidal Wave.
Tidal Wave Leviathan curls around the platform, wiping the party unless the Elemental Converter's shield has been activated.
  • This attack is always telegraphed by a Spinning Dive from the north or south side of the platform happening prior.
Wavespine Sahagin A Sahagin enemy that appears in pairs. If left alive too long, will repeatedly cast Hydro Shot, creating puddles that inflict Dropsy if stepped into.

Will additionally cast Stun Shot, inflicting Paralysis on the highest enmity player.

Wavetooth Sahagin Will cast Dreadwash, inflicting all players with Hysteria for 3 seconds.

If left alive too long, will repeatedly cast Dreadstorm, creating puddles that inflict Hysteria for 10 seconds if stepped into.

Gyre Spume Four yellow orb enemies that drain energy from the Elemental Converter. Explodes when killed, dealing moderate damage to the entire party. Indicates a phase change.
Wave Spume Four blue orbs that tether to the center of the platform. The first player to attack these will have a chase tether attached to them from the Wave Spume.

After 30 seconds, all Wave Spumes explode, dealing proximity damage. Wave Spumes have high health and are unlikely to be killed.

  • Players tethered to Wave Spumes will be inflicted with Bleeding, but the damage dealt from the debuff is negligible.

Opening

Leviathan will begin at the edge of the platform and will use no abilities until brought to 90% health or 25 seconds have passed. Afterwards, Leviathan will dive and prepare a Body Slam.

Phase 1: 90% - 70%

Leviathan re-appears with its head on one side of the platform and its tail on the opposite. Each tank should take one, with Physical Ranged players attacking the tail. Melee players with positional abilities may prefer to attack the tail as it counts as a rear position.

The tank holding enmity on the Tail will be debuffed with Briny Mirror. Only one healer should heal this tank, with healers swapping before 16 stacks of Briny Veil are built up. Healers must be careful of using AoE heals near the debuffed tank.

The tank holding ennmity against the Head should standing towards the corner to face Dread Tide away from the group. Healers should also spread apart to prevent overlapping damage from Water Spout.

Any Sahagin that appear should be focused and killed by DPS immediately, with Wavetooth Sahagins prioritized first.

At 80% health, a Wavetooth Sahagin will appear and must be killed as soon as possible to prevent players from being inflicted with Hysteria.

At 70%, Gyre Spumes appear and must be killed as quickly as possible to re-activate the Elemental Converter. Leviathan will dive, casting Grand Fall and a Spinning Dive across half the platform from the north or south side. The Elemental Converter must be activated quickly after the Spinning Dive to prevent death from the Tidal Wave.

The railings are up in this phase, providing a safety net if you miss the Body Slam or Spinning Dive.

Phase 2: 70% - 35%

The railings of the platform break. Players will now have to position properly for Spinning Dive and Body Slam to avoid being knocked into the ocean to their death.

Other than the railings, this phase will will progress much like the previous one, with the risk Leviathan casting two Spinning Dives followed by a Body Slam.

At 35%, Gyre Spumes will spawn. Then, after 30 seconds, four Wave Spumes will appear. The tanks should pick up the Wave Spumes (either two each, or one with all four) and focus on dodging the upcoming Spinning Dives and Body Slam. Afterwards, both tanks should carry their Wave Spumes to separate corners and use mitigations or invulnerabilities while the rest of the party stays as far away from the Water Spumes as possible. Once the Water Spumes burst, Leviathan will soon follow with a Spinning Dive into a Tidal Wave.

Note: If the Gyre Spumes are killed within 30 seconds, prior to Water Spumes appearing, Leviathan will instead attempt to use Tidal Wave and skip to Phase 3.

Phase 3: 35% - 0%

Leviathan will spawn another Wavetooth Sahagin but otherwise will simply rotate between its normal attacks, Spinning Dives, and Body Slam. If the party takes too long to finish Leviathan, it will enrage and wipe the party.
