Introduction

The war with Dravania rages on, brutal and unrelenting. With no end in sight, the Holy See grows desperate. As her dragoons lay down their lives in defense of their home, Ishgard turns to technology to protect her sons and daughters. Great cannons and ballistas now line the city walls, plucking dragons from the sky.

Machinists are mechanicians specialized into building all sorts of mechanical equipment to use in battle. Their prowess excelled in such a way that they're ranked amongst the defense bodies of Ishgard, and join the fray along knights to defend their homeland with their turrets, cannons, and many other deadly inventions.

General information

Guild

The Machinist's Guild is in Skysteel Manufactory, located in Foundation (x8, y10.2). This job starts at level 30.

Unlock

Machinist is a heavensward job introduced in 2014 Fan Fest in Tokyo, featuring a turret-deploying mechanician who wields a firearm. It has a few requirements in order to be unlocked:

Overheat

The Ammunition Gauge indicates the number of rounds of special ammunition currently loaded in a machinist's firearm. Special ammunition can be loaded to any firearm by executing the action Reload.

The Heat Gauge─indicating a firearm's temperature─is displayed upon execution of the action Gauss Barrel. When the gauge reaches 100, the firearm becomes overheated. While overheated, a firearm will deal additional damage, but will soon become too hot to use. At this time, the Gauss Barrel is automatically removed and cannot be reattached until it cools.

Upon learning the trait Shot Mastery at level 64, maintaining a high firearm temperature will render the actions Split Shot, Slug Shot, and Clean Shot heated, increasing their damage.

Ammunition & Heat Gauge in PvP

The Ammunition Gauge indicates the number of rounds of special ammunition currently loaded in a machinist's firearm. Special ammunition can be loaded to any firearm by executing the action Quick Reload.

The Heat Gauge─indicating a firearm's temperature─is displayed upon execution of the action Gauss Barrel. When the gauge reaches 100, the firearm becomes overheated. While overheated, a firearm will deal additional damage, but will soon become too hot to use. At this time, the Gauss Barrel is automatically removed and cannot be reattached until it cools.

Maintaining a high firearm temperature will render the actions Split Shot, Slug Shot, and Clean Shot heated, increasing their damage.
