Glamours

Glamour is Final Fantasy XIV's vanity system first introduced in patch 2.2. It allows the player to transform the appearance of their gear into that of other gear. The transformation only affects the appearance of that piece of gear and does not affect its stats. It allows the player to take on various appearances regardless of the gear they are wearing.
Most visible gear including weapons, shields, armor, and accessories can be altered. However, the Facewear slot is not considered as "gear" that can be glamoured; that slot is considered part of the Fashion Accessories system.
Unlock
Players must be at least level 15 to unlock the glamour system. The most common way of doing so is through the following quest.
- NPC: Swyrgeim in Western Thanalan (X:12.6 Y:14.3)
The same NPC also offers the Color Your World quest for unlocking the ability to dye gear.
Crafting Glamour Prisms
The following quest unlocks the ability to craft Glamour Prisms using class-specific Master Recipe Tomes. This quest is optional; players can still acquire Glamour Prisms through other means.
- Class requirement: Level 15+ Disciple of the Hand
- NPC: Swyrgeim in Western Thanalan (X:12.6 Y:14.3)
- Quest requirement: Completion of If I Had a Glamour
Alternative quests
Alternative unlock quests in Revenant's Toll within Mor Dhona, a high-leveled area, are also available: A Self-improving Man and Submission Impossible for glamours and master recipe glamour prism tomes, respectively. These are functionally identical and mutally exclusive to the Western Thanalan quests, so it does not matter which quests the player chooses to do.
Usage
Requirements
Glamours may be cast with any items that meet the following conditions:
- The base and projected items are of the same type (e.g. only head gear can be glamoured on other head gear).
- For weapons and tools only, the base item and projected item can be equipped by the same class or job (e.g. only dark knight weapons can be glamoured on other dark knight weapons, but crafter body gear can be glamoured on combat body armor). The only exception for weapons is that scholar and summoner can glamour each other's weapons.
- The base item and projected item can be equipped by the same gender or race.
For gear occupying more than one gear slot:
- The base item and projected item must occupy the same gear slot.
- Multi-slot gear considers one of their slots to be their "base slot". For example, Herklaedi considers the body slot to be its base slot. This is the slot that must match between the base item and projected item.
- If multi-slot gear is projected, then it will override the appearance all gear slots that the "real" item would normally remove.
- For example, a projected Herklaedi will override the appearance of hands, legs, and feet slots.
- If projecting onto multi-slot gear, then only the base slot's appearance can be customized. Any slots that the multi-slot gear removes will display as empty.
- For example: Herklaedi will only accept projections of a body piece. If this is done, the character will appear to wear the projected body piece, but their arms, legs, and feet slots will all display as if they were empty.
- This effectively means that multi-slot gear "locks out" customization on all slots except the base slot. For example: if equipping a Vermilion Cloak of Casting, then it is not possible to project the appearance of any head slot item.
Application
Cast Glamour
- A piece of equipment can be manually cast as a glamour onto another piece of equipment if you are carrying both of them in your inventory or armoury chest.
- It costs one glamour prism to cast a glamour.
- Right click or open the subcommand menu of the item you want to keep the stats of, but change the appearance of.
- Choose "Cast Glamour"
- On the left, a list of equipment you own will be displayed. This list displays which items will keep their stats but change their appearance.
- On the right, a list of equipment you own will be displayed. This is the list of items you can apply the appearance of onto the equipment chosen on the left list.
- Choose the item on the right list you want to make the item on the left look like. If you cannot cast a glamour due to a level or class restriction it will be greyed out.
- A window will open with two entries: the base item will preserve its stats, but take on the appearance of the appearance item. It will cost one glamour prism. Choose "cast" to confirm.
- Both items will be bound to you if they are not already bound. The base item will keep its stats, but look like the appearance item when equipped.
Glamour Creation
- Ensure that you have a Glamour Prism.
- Ensure that you're in possession of an item which you want to use the appearance of but which you're happy to store temporarily.
- Ensure that the item you're going to turn into a glamour is not equipped.
- Go to your Glamour Dresser, there's one in your Inn room and in the Grand Company squadron room, and use it.
- Two windows will open. On the right is the Glamour Creation window.
- If it's in your inventory, rather than your armoury, you'll be able to find the item in the list right now.
- If it's in your armoury click on "Location" and then the relevant section. At this point you should be able to find the item.
- Either way, once you've found it, click on it.
- Make sure you've selected the right item before you take "Yes" from the dialog, because once you've done that the item you've chosen will be temporarily stored in the Glamour Dresser and it will become a glamour (and a Glamour Prism will be used up).
- You can retrieve an item placed in the glamour dresser using the Restore Item subcommand. It will be placed in your inventory or armoury chest, and bound to you.
Glamour Plate Creation
Once you have one or more glamours you can apply them either individually or in groups to a Glamour Plate.
- Go to your Glamour Dresser, there's one in your Inn room, and use it.
- Two windows will open. On the left is the Glamour Dresser window.
- Click on "Edit Glamour Plates"
- The Glamour Plate Creation window opens.
- Click on the plate you want to set up, one of the numbered buttons at the top. A plate is a term for an outfit, although it won't necessarily overwrite the entire outfit, i.e. you don't have to fill all the slots to use it.
- To either side of the image of you are the slots.
- Click one of the ones for which you've created a glamour.
- Click the glamour in the Gear Selection window.
- Repeat the above two steps until you have the outfit you'll want to apply.
- Click Save.

Glamour Prism
Players need to have a Glamour Prism in their inventory to use Cast Glamour.
Obtaining Glamour Prisms
Aside from crafting, Glamour Prisms can also be bought from one of the Grand Company Quartermasters for
200 Company Seals, in Shadowbringers zones with
Bicolor Gemstones, with
Wolf Marks, or on a player's Island Sanctuary with
Islander's Cowries. They are also tradeable on the Market Board. It is generally more economical to purchase Glamour Prisms than to craft them.
Crafting Prisms
Each crafting class may create a generic Glamour Prism when the recipe is learned. The generic prism works for all gear types.
After completing the quest Submission Impossible or Absolutely Glamourous, players will be able to purchase the Master Recipes: Glamours Set, as well as the clear prisms needed to craft glamour prisms.
Clear Prisms can purchased from the following vendors:
| Vendor | Location / Coordinates | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Bango Zango | Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (9.9, 11.4) | |
| Maisenta | New Gridania (11.5, 11.2) | |
| Roarich | Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (10.6, 9.5) | |
| Goberin | Western Thanalan (12.1, 15) | |
| Tataroga | Mor Dhona (22, 6.7) | |
| Apartment Merchant | Apartment Building Lobbies (6.1, 6) | |
| Scrap Salvager | Idyllshire (5.9, 7.3) | |
| Independent Merchant | Rhalgr's Reach (12.6, 11) | |
| Tokohana | Kugane (12.9, 12.2) |
Glamour Dressers
Outfit Glamours
Introduced in Patch 7.1, An outfit glamour condenses a set combination of items, or a partial set, into a single slot and stores it in the glamour dresser. Like with regular glamours, outfit glamours require Glamour Prisms to create.

Players can also glamour other aspects of the game in addition to their character's gear. These may or may not require Glamour Prisms, depending on the type.
Egi Glamours
Adventurer Squadron Member Glamours
Custom Delivery NPC Glamours
Upon reaching maximum rank with most custom delivery NPCs, players can change their outfit using Glamour Prisms.
Trust NPC Glamours
Upon leveling Trust Avatar NPCs to certain levels, players will unlock new outfits for them. However, they cannot freely customize their appearance.
Island Sanctuary Glamours
Players may change the appearance of structures in their Island Sanctuary Hideaway by using an Island Prism.

History
Patch 7.4 (2025-12-16): All glamour restrictions on gear (excluding weapons and race/gender-specific gear) have been removed. Previously, gear can only be glamoured over a given piece if it was an equal or lower level to the piece and was equippable by the current class or job. For example, it was not possible to glamour level 100 weapons over an equipped level 50 weapon, or crafter gear over combat gear.
Patch 4.2 (2018-01-30): Glamour Dressers added with ??? slots and all class-specific Glamour Prisms condensed into one type of Glamour Prism. Prior to this, there were different glamour prisms for each crafter class (except CUL), for a total of seven kinds. Each piece of gear required prisms from a specific class.
Patch 4.1 (2017-10-10):
- Glamour unlock level reduced to 15 (previously 50). With this change:
- The quest "A Self-improving Man" can now be accepted at level 15.
- The quest "Submission Impossible" can now be accepted at level 15.
- Master Recipe Glamour books can now be acquired at level 15. Moreover, their price has been reduced from 3,000 gil to 300 gil.
- The required level for all glamour prisms has been lowered from 30 to 15.
- The If I Had a Glamour and Absolutely Glamourous quests have been added.
Patch 3.4 (2016-09-27): Individual class Glamour Prisms and Clear Prisms, which came in grades 1 through 5 for different level ranges, condensed into seven class-specific glamour prisms and one clear prism. This meant there were 40 different prism items prior to this change.
Patch 2.2 (2014-03-27): Added.
