Extreme Trial Glamour Weapons

Extreme Trial Glamour Weapons are weapons that can be obtained using materials dropped from many extreme trials, usually from crafting. These weapons share the same models as the weapons dropped from the trial but have additional particle effects that will appear when unsheathed. Recipes for newly released weapons sometimes require specialization in the respective Disciple of Hand class, although this restriction is lifted in the next major patch.

Except for in A Realm Reborn, these weapons are always released several major patches after the relevant trial. Therefore, they are used strictly for glamour purposes and have no use in combat. In many cases, the glamour weapons will have lower item levels and stats than weapons dropped from the trial. Due to their lack of combat use, it is not necessary to craft these as  high quality for them to have value, unlike most other crafted gear.

The trial-specific materials required to craft these can be obtained as uncommon drops from the extreme trial, uncommonly from Desynthesis of weapons dropping from the trial, trading with other players, or the Market Board. These materials are always released alongside the trial, unlike the glamour weapons. The materials are most easily obtained by running the trials with an Unrestricted Party ("unsynced"). When doing so, players should also roll on the dropped weapons as they provide a chance of the material upon desynthesis. Unlike the non-glowing versions of the weapons, the glamour weapons can also be sold on the Market Board, with some exceptions.

Unlike with most other content in the game, it is somewhat difficult to predict which extreme trial glamour weapon set(s) will release in the next patch, as these do not strictly follow the order the trials were released in. Some patches may have multiple new weapon sets, while others have none. If crafted weapons are released in a future expansion compared to one the trial was released in, weapons for the new jobs are usually not retroactively added, although there have been some exceptions in the past.
