“Lancers primarily use two-handed spears and other piercing weapons, and are agile warriors. Once influenced by the mighty Ala Mhigan lancers, there was a period where competition over spear shaft length was trending, but now it has developed into the mixed use of various types of spears. Mastering polearm weapons to wield them freely is no simple matter. However, once you master the techniques, you can sweep across the battlefield with movements like a violent storm.

Lancer (LNC) is one of six starting
DPS classes and a
Melee DPS. It upgrades to
Dragoon at level 10.

General information
Guild
The Lancers' Guild is in Old Gridania. If you choose lancer as your first class, you will start off in the city of Ul'dah. At level 10, lancers must specialize into dragoon.
Equipment
The lancer is a disciple of war and wears armor "of Maiming" and accessories "of Slaying," same as Dragoon. They use polearms as weapons. The following crafting classes can create items that are useful to the lancer:
- Carpenter — Polearms.
- Leatherworker — Maiming armor.
- Armorer — Maiming armor.
- Goldsmith — Slaying Earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings.
