Alchemist is one of eight Disciple of the Hand classes that players can equip. They can craft potions and status inducers, as well as arcane items like staves for White Mages or Grimoires for Summoners, and so on. Once players reach level 10 with any Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic, they can head to the Alchemists' Guild in Ul'dah and speak with the guild receptionist and accept the quest Way of the Alchemist. Alchemist is an excellent crafting class to play to make Gil, as the items crafted exclusively by this class are very valuable to high-end raiders.

Attributes

Players also have a resource called CP or Crafting Points that is required to use the skills that affect how the craft will unfold.

Crafting Process

After unlocking a crafting class, players will be able to access the Crafting Log and select an item they would like to craft (as long as they are the correct level to craft the item). If players have the requisite items in their inventory, they will be able to select the recipe and begin Synthesis. A menu will open displaying both the Progress of the craft as well as the Quality. There will also be a gauge depicting the Durability of the item. Using various skills and actions, players will fill both gauges, with the goal being to get the Quality gauge as high as possible and completing the craft before the Durability gauge depletes. Players can use the gauge to determine the Durability of the craft, as well as the orb on the bench in front of them as a visual representation, and make adjustments to the skills being used as they go.

Once the item has been synthesized once and players have reached level 10, they have the ability to perform Quick Synthesis, which will craft multiples of the item as long as players have the ingredients in their inventory. While High Quality items can be made this way, it is more unlikely. This will also burn through the Durability of the player's gear at twice the rate.

Gaining EXP

Leveling a crafter class is fairly simple and straightforward, but has limited options for gaining EXP. Players should create varied routines to help keep the monotony down and keep the EXP grind more interesting.

  • Levequests: Outside of the EXP gained through the actual activity of crafting, Levequests are one of the best methods for gaining EXP quickly. Several can be turned in at one time, most of the items are fairly simple to craft or can even be purchased if players have the Gil
  • Beast Tribe Daily Quests: Once unlocked, players can receive decent EXP, as well as valuable crafting items and Gil.
  • Supply and Provision Missions: These can be completed both daily and weekly at a players Grand Company headquarters. Players can turn in the various items for EXP. If a player turns in a High Demand item (notated with a star), they will receive even more EXP.

Equipment

Gear is the main method of increasing stats for more difficult crafts. With higher stats, players will be able to craft more items and make them High Quality, which will be required for some quests and turn-ins. Keeping gear up to date is therefore highly recommended, with players updating their equipment every five levels at minimum, focusing on the left-hand side gear, which gives a majority of main stats, upgrading the main hand and off hand equipment as a focus if Gil is low, and supplementing CP with Accessories as necessary.

Leveling Guide

The crafting class quests require players to turn in items of either normal or High Quality. These items can either be crafted or purchased, however it is recommended to craft items at a higher level, as it offers a decent sum of EXP as well as being quite a bit cheaper. To make crafting the most efficient it can be, it is recommended to level a Gathering class as well to supplement the items needed for crafting.

It is also recommended that players complete their class quests as they become available, as these also award a chunk of EXP as well as unlocking certain skills.

Level 1-10

For this level tier, simply crafting items will net players more than enough EXP to reach level 10. For the level one, five and ten quest, players will have to craft a Distilled Water, 3x Antidote and 12x Beeswax. If players desire doing levequests as well, they can craft items like the Maple Wand and the Growth Formula Alpha in rotation, and take the levequests The Bleat Is On and Root Rush. Both of these award a large amount of EXP and are definitely worth doing. Many of the items required to craft these items are readily available from merchants.

Level 11-20

once again, for this tier, leveling by simply crafting available items will provide enough EXP to level through this tier. For the first five levels, players should focus on crafting the Ash Picatrix and the Roof Tile for the leves The Hexster Runoff and Unbreak My Heart. Once players reach level fifteen, they can craft the items Potion of Intelligence and Potion of Dexterity. For the back half of this tier, players can also craft Ash Wands, Potions of Mind and Hard Leather Grimoires, as they are easy to craft and the materials required are affordable. Players can turn these in for the leves Shut Up and Take My Gil, Sanity Points and There's Something About Bury respectively. Players will have to craft an Engraved Hard Leather Grimoire affixed with any level 1 Materia for the level twenty class quest . If players haven't unlocked the ability to affix Materia, they can unlock it from the quest Forging the Spirit in Central Thanalan.

Level 21-30

In this tier, players will be able to begin turning in Repeatable Leves, where players will be able to turn in the levequest three times for a decent amount of EXP. Players should begin crafting stat-augmenting potions for EXP and Gil, specifically the Potion of Intelligence for the leve Don't Forget to Take Your Meds. The leve Dripping with Venom is another great option, as the items for Weak Blinding Potion are readily available for purchase and are easy to craft. For the level twenty five quest, players are required to craft a Natron at High Quality to turn in.

After level twenty five, players will have fairly limited options for leves, as many of them will have expensive materials for the items required for turn in. The best repeatable leve is Automata for the People, requiring Crab Oil, which can be purchased for fairly cheap. Simply continue crafting until reaching level 30, at which point players will need to craft three High Quality Weak Blinding Potions for the next class quest.

Level 31-40

For the first half of this tier, players should craft Hi-Potion of Strength and Growth Formula Gamma for the leves Just Give Him a Serum and Growing Is Knowing respectively, as these are rather simple items to craft with affordable materials, while also offering up a large amount of EXP. Once players reach level 35, they will need to craft a High Quality Hi-ether to turn in for the class quest.

After level 35, players can simply continue crafting various stat-inducing potions for EXP and Gil. For leves, the single best option is The House Always Wins, which requires Blinding Potions, each of which ingredients can be purchased from merchants. This particular tier is rather devoid of options for leveling up, so players should simply persevere and push through this phase. Once players reach level 40, they will need to craft three High Quality Hi-Potion of Strength to turn in.

Level 41-50

In this tier , players will have several options for crafting leves, offering more variation in the items needed for each. As a reminder, players should be upgrading gear at least every five levels. If crafting High Quality items is becoming difficult, investing in up to date gear will make a difference. Crafting the stat-buffing potions offers a high value for Gil and EXP, and any of the leves are a good option, specifically crafting Books of Mythril for Arcane Arts for Dummies. Once players reach level 45, they will need to craft a Mega-Potion of Mind, Mega-Potion of Intelligence, and a Mega-Potion of Vitality, all at High Quality, for the class quest.

From level 45 onwards, players can take the leves in Mor Dhona for high EXP, with focus on the Mega-Potion of Vitality for the leve A Matter of Vital Importance for high EXP per turn in. Players can also craft the Potent Poisoning Potion and Potent Silencing Potion for Shut Up Already and Sleepless in Silvertear respectively. Once players reach level 50, they will need to craft a High Quality Budding Rosewood Wand with a Quicktongue Materia III affixed to it. Upon completing this, players will receive an Alembic called Paracelsus, a great upgrade to main hand gear.

Once players reach level 50, they will be able to unlock Collectabless crafting in Ishgard by completing the quest Inscrutable Tastes and learn how to earn Scrips. By turning in these Collectables, players will earn EXP and Scrips, which can be traded for high level gear to help meet the higher CP requirements on High Quality items. For crafting Collectables, it is worth remembering that the quality doesn't affect their value whatsoever, making it easier to craft them and receive Scrips.

Level 51-60

To help with leveling through the early levels of this tier, players should unlock the Moogle Beast Tribe quests to gain easy EXP The turn ins are fairly simple and cheap, and prvide a wonderful boost to EXP when the crafting slows down a bit. Turning in Grand Company daily items are also a fantastic source of EXP. Players should also take this time to improve their gear if they need to, either through purchasing it from vendors or by crafting Collectables and obtaining gear that way.

For the first few levels, players can simply craft Collectables, as well as Enchanted Mythrite Ink and Archaeoskin Codexes for the leves The Mustache Suits Him and Summoning for Dummies (as opposed to the leve Summoning the Courage to Be Different (L) as this leve offers less EXP). Players can continue this until reaching level 53, when they can craft three Enchanted Mythrite Inks at High Quality. If gear is still an issue, players should take the Rainbow Coatee. Players can also purchase a Mythrite Alembic, and use the Mythrite Mortar obtained from the class quest.

After level 53, players should begin crafting Holy Water and Grade 1 Mind Dissolvent for selling and leves, until they can craft Enchanted Hardsilver Ink and Wing Glue, both of which are quite valuable both for sale and for EXP in the leves Surgical Substitution (L) and Warding Off Temptation. Players will continue this, mixing in Moogle Daily Quests and Grand Company Turn Ins until they reach level 55, when they can craft three Grade 1 Intelligence Dissolvent at High Quality to turn in for the class quest.

For the back half of this level tier, players will simply continue crafting items for leves', as well as Collectables to begin earning Scrips. Players can choose which leves to take on based on the cost of materials if they don't have a gatherer class. Crafting Hallowed Water is the best bet as most of the items are purchaseable from vendors, and the leve Cleansing the Wicked Humours gives high EXP. Once players reach level 58, they can turn in a High Quality Draconian Potion of Strength and receive a Titanium Alembic. Players can continue this way, supplementing EXP with Moogle Quests and Grand Company Turn Ins . Players should focus on crafting Enchanted Aurum Regis Ink as the leve Ink into Antiquity (L) rewards a tremendous amount of EXP. Finally, when players reach level 60, they can craft Noble Gold at High Quality for the class quest turn in.

Level 61-70

Starting in this tier, players will have access to the new activity, Custom Deliveries. Players will speak to M'naago in Rhalgr's Reach to unlock these. They are fairly simple and affordable, and offer high EXP as a reward. Players will also be able to do the Namazu Beast Tribe Quests for more simple turn-ins for high EXP.

For the first few levels, players should simply take on the new leves available, specifically focusing on Whinier than the Sword and Magic Beans, as both offer great EXP. If needed, players should consider upgrading their gear to the Bloodhempen gear and the Larche accessories set once they reach level 63, that way they can upgrade a majority of their gear if needed. At level 63, players can also craft a High Quality Intellectuary. Players can use the gear as a reward from this quest to supplement anything they couldn't purchase. It is definitely recommended that players upgrade their gear this tier, as it will carry them mostly through the entire level tier.

After this, players will continue farming leves, like Materia Worth and Scroll Down, while also stockpiling other items that are high value on the Market Board for making Gil. Upon reaching level 65, players will need to craft a High Quality Twice-fermented Mun-Tuy Juice for the class quest. Upon completing this quest, players will receive a Doman Iron Alembic and some gear to choose from as a reward. Again, players should select the gear they need that will offer the largest stat increase.

Players will simply continue crafting and turning in leves and Beast Tribe quests to supplement EXP. The back half of this tier is a little slow with only a few good options for farming. crafting Persimmon Tannin for the leve Let Loose the Juice is a farily good option, as the EXP is quite high, as well as Spell-rebound. Once players reach level 68, they will need to craft a High Quality Luminol for the class quest. Following this, players should start crafting Infusion of Vitality for the leve Pep-stepper, as well as for selling. If players are able to craft the other status-inducing items in this tier, they have the potential to make a good amount of Gil, as these are used for high-end raiding. Finally, once players reach level 70, they can craft a High Quality Potent Dissolvent for the final class quest.

Level 71-80

Once again, players should unlock the crafter Beast Tribe quests from the Dwarves. Players will also have access to the Crystarium Deliveries, which act as a class quest of sorts. It is important to note that these quests are shared with Culinarian, and once completed on one class, they cannot be completed by the other.

To start the tier, players should focus on getting fully equipped with Scrip gear, as the stats offered by this gear will carry a player through the entire tier. Once they are geared up, players can begin their rotation of crafting activities, namely leves, all of the available ones currently are good options for EXP right away. Once players reach level 72, they will gain access to the leves Make It Bigger, requiring a Gliderskin Grimoire, and Making Ends Meet, requiring Superior Spiritbond Potions. Crafting other stat-buffing items at High Quality is a great way to earn Gil. Once players reach level 73, they can take on the next Crystarium Delivery, if it hasn't been completed by another class yet.

At this point, leveling can slow down or become slightly stagnant, as the best method of leveling is leves. However, the number of leves available creates a bit of variety. Repeating some of the lower level leves can still offer comparable EXP, so they may be worth continuing to run. At level 75, players can continue the Crystarium Deliveries quests for even more EXP. Simply continue on as before to reach level 76 and unlock the next tier of leves. One of the best to focus on is A Greater Grimoire, which requires a Zonureskin Grimoire. The other option is Crafty Concoctions, requiring Commanding Craftsman's Syrup, if the items are affordable or a player has access to a high level Gatherer. At level 78, there are more items to be turned in with the Crystarium Deliveries.

For the final few levels of this tier, players can simply continue on with what they're doing, running leves that offer the most EXP for the amount of materials required to craft the items needed for turn in. The best option for the final levels is the leve Mindful Medicine, requiring three Tincture of Mind. It's the highest EXP reward for the final tier. Once players reach level 80, they can complete the final quest for the Crystarium Deliveries if they haven't on Culinarian. Players will now have access to more Collectibles recipes, and will also be able to take part in the Ishgardian Restoration for high level gear, such as the Skybuilders' Alembic.

Level 81-90

Currently, there is no Beast Tribe available for supplementing a players' EXP, however, they can still turn in items to their Grand Company, and do the new tier of Custom Deliveries and Studium Deliveries. Once again, these quests will be shared with the Culinarian and can only be completed once. Players can upgrade their gear again if it hasn't been upgraded for a while, with Scrip gear being optimal.

For the first few levels, players can take on the new leves available, specifically focusing on Nearly Bare, which requires a Gaja Grimoire. The other leve, Wishful Inking, which requires three bottles of Enchanted High Durium Ink is another good option, however the items can be difficult to get ahold of. This will continue until reaching level 83, when the next Studium Delivery becomes available.

Players will also have access to the next tier of leves. Players should ignore Body over Mind, as it requires a lot of items and rewards comparatively low EXP. Luncheon Bound on the other hand is much more lucrative for EXP, requiring only a single Luncheon Toadskin Codex. Players should also start crafting the Collectables available at this point, as they offer high EXP. At level 85 players will be able to continue the Studium Deliveries quest line.

The leves unlocked at level 84 offer great EXP, and are both a great option, even after unlocking the next tier of leves. At level 86, the next tier unlocks, and players should focus more on Nearly There, requiring a Kumbhiraskin Grimoire for over two million EXP. This portion of leveling up is rather dry, so players should balance their activities across all available methods of gaining EXP to keep the process from becoming monotonous. At level 88, the next Studium Delivery becomes available.

For the final few levels, players should have their rotation of activities down, and should continue that. The final tier of leves will also become available, with Technically Still Magic being the best option. The other leves still offer comparable EXP, so be sure to continue running them. The final Studium Deliveries quest will become available at level 90.
