Wealthy noble Teledji Adeledji has had his prized pet, a rare gil turtle, kidnapped by ruthless bandits who seek a sizable ransom for the gentle wavekin's return. Always a man of principle, Teledji Adeledji has decided that instead of caving to the bandit's demands, he will offer the ransom to anyone who can safely retrieve his pet from the clutches of evil.

After weakening the gil turtle, slay fire sprites and use their cores to light a special herb on fire. The smoke released should be powerful enough to put the creature to sleep, but only if the turtle is close enough to the flames.

— In-game description

Hero on the Half Shell is a level 15 guildhest introduced in patch 2.0. It intends to teach basic boss mechanics.

Objective

Weaken the gil turtle and lure the beast into your trap!

As long as the gil turtle is nearby, the bandits will attempt to heal it. Try and keep the creature beyond the reach of their spells. Slay fire sprites and use their cores to light the herb patch on fire, releasing a sleep-inducing smoke which will calm the gil turtle, making the creature easier to capture. Guide

In Hero on the Half Shell, you are required to capture a giant turtle mini-boss named Gil Turtle.

Before you start the fight, locate the environmental object Herb Patch in the boss room. You will need to interact with it later to capture the boss. When you start the fight, defeat the Amateur Raiders and Efts, and have your tank take the Gil Turtle's aggro.

After the turtle has taken some damage, a Fire Sprite spawns. The party should immediately stop attacking turtle and kill the Fire Sprite as soon as possible. Afterwards, pick up the item that it drops, and interact with the Herb Patch to burn it.

The tank then needs to pull the turtle into the burning Herb Patch to put the turtle to sleep, clearing the duty. Once the turtle is in position, it is very important to not attack it, as doing so will wake it up again. The tank should completely un-target the turtle, to ensure they don't auto-attack it.

If the Gil Turtle is accidentally killed, the duty will fail.

Dialogue

Your orders are to capture the gil turtle. The best manner in which to accomplish this task is by first weakening the poor creature.
The craven bandits who spirited away the turtle would not have you reclaim their prize, and will heal the creature's wounds with hopes that their efforts will discourage you into leaving. Draw the turtle away from the conjurers.
Damnable 'venturers!
Our hard-earned gil's escapin'!
Well, don't jus' stand there, ye dogs!
Silence those bandits!
Get yer heads out of yer arses and heal me wounds!
Thal's bloody balls!
In its current weakened state, the gil turtle will be unable to resist the effects of the herbs. Now quickly! We require fire sprite cores!
Ye can have the ruddy turtle!
Use the core to light the herb patch lying before me.

If the Efts are not defeated in time

Those efts may prove troublesome if left alone. Slay the wavekin before the situation becomes problematic.

If continueing to attack the Gil Turtle

Stay your blades!
The client specifically stated that he wished his pet returned alive!

If killing the Gil Turtle

You blundering half-wits! Now what are we to tell Lord Adeledji!
Objective Failed

If defeating the Efts in time and not attack the turtle

The herbs are aflame! Now do what you must to draw the gil turtle into the smoke!
And so the gentle giant succumbs to slumber's blissful embrace. Our work here is complete.
A fine display! Now come, collect your reward.
A solid performance. You seem to know your way around the battlefield. Here is to hoping that I may work with you again at a later time.
