Additional Information

Hailing from the northern reaches of Abalathia, Hoary Boulder is considered of formidable build, even amongst other Hellsguard. When he was eighteen, he descended from his mountain home hoping to prove his mettle, and earned countless accolades as an adventurer for taking on deadly marks most others would avoid. It was on one such quest in the outskirts of Gridania that Hoary met Coultenet. Though different in personality and origin, the two bonded as if they were brothers, and have worked side by side ever since. Eventually, the pair would earn a name for themselves, earning them the attention of one Tataru Taru. Now twenty and five, Hoary Boulder guards the Rising Stones, and has taken it upon himself to teach the Doman younglings which call the halls home the way of the sword, hoping that one day people will look up to him as they do the Warrior of Light. [1]

Lore

Hoary worked alongside Coultenet for the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, gathering various Aether readings alongside scholars. When one of the adventurers was injured on patrol, the Warrior of Light joined them on their route. Hoary, wanting to test their might, challenged them to a little sparring match, inviting the Domans to watch in the hopes that they learn something. The Warrior of Light did not fail to impress, and had soon downed both Hoary and Coultenet.

When aiding in an escort mission, the Warrior of Light came across the body of Wilred, a youth who had joined the Crystal Braves. Recognizing the boy, Hoary took over the escort mission, sending the Warrior of Light to inform Minfilia of his death. Some time later, when Hoary and Coultenet had been working as escorts for F'lhaminn, they received word that the Crystal Braves had betrayed the Scions, and to take F'lhaminn to safety. The group immediately took a boat to Radz-at-Han for refuge, where they remained for some time.

Once the Scion's names had been cleared, Hoary and Coultenet brought F'lhaminn back to Eorzea, where they were welcomed back by the other members of the Scions. He also learned that his brother, Ocher Boulder had joined with the Scions as well.

Hoary bid the refugees of Doma farewell following the liberation of their homeland. When some of the children began to cry, he promised that they would see eachother again, as they were destined to be adventurers. The children promised him that they would keep up their training and become great adventurers just like him.

Following the liberation of Ala Mhigo, Hoary stayed behind at the Rising Stones to help with maintaining things there. When both Urianger and Y'shtola fell into a mysterious coma, he comforted Alisaie by ensuring her that there would definitely be someone out there who could awaken them. As the Scions continued to fall, Hoary worked hard to ensure the infirmary would be ready to receive them, as well as cover the extra strain that their absence had put on the Scions'operations. When he had to leave on field work, he entrusted the Rising Stones to Coultenet.

Hoary continued to work hard until the Scions return. When Fandaniel revealed himself and his plans, he worked with the Scions to unite the Beastmen tribes with the Eorzean Alliance. He also aided in the development of the cure for Primal tempering, as well as gathering the requisite materials.

Hoary joined the Ilsabard contingent when the Eorzean Alliance made for Garlemald to offer humanitarian aid. He fought against the Tempered Garlean soldiers, ensuring the caravan's safe arrival in Camp Broken Glass. When the Garleans began to suffer the effects of Tempering due to the screams of Anima, he stayed at the camp to attempt to subdue them.

Following the aversion of the Final Days, Hoary and Coultenet traveled to another land known as Corvos.
