The Palaistra is a Crystalline Conflict map. It is available for both Custom Matches and Ranked Matches.

Overview

The Palaistra is one of the arenas available for the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode introduced in Patch 6.1. Designed with a Sharlayan aesthetic, the map features a symmetrical layout centered around the crystal objective, encouraging balanced skirmishes and clear sightlines between teams.

Map Layout

The Palaistra features a wide central courtyard where the tactical crystal begins. The area is divided into:

  • Starting Zones: Each team begins from opposite sides, behind short corridors leading to the arena proper. Each side's starting zone offers three ground potions each found in the southwest, southeast, and middle portion of their starting area.
  • Central Arena: The crystal rests in the middle of an platform surrounded by low walls and that provide partial cover.
  • Outer Rings: The outer edges of the map feature elevated walkways (also known as "speed lanes") which offer open space suitable for ranged combat or flanking maneuvers.

Map Effects & Gimmicks

Unlike some other arenas, The Palaistra does not feature any environmental hazards or timed map effects. Combat is straightforward and relies purely on positioning, job coordination, and crystal control. This makes it ideal for learning the fundamentals of Crystalline Conflict.

Trivia

  • The name "Palaistra" (Greek: παλαίστρα) refers to an ancient Greek wrestling school or gymnasium, fitting the theme of close-quarters combat.
