Journal
- Ilberd's assault on Baelsar's Wall and subsequent summoning of the primal now known as “Shinryu” left the Eorzean Alliance with little choice but to occupy Castrum Oriens -- an act almost certain to be interpreted as the prelude to a full-scale invasion. Yet if the Alliance must go to war, it would not do so alone. General Raubahn Aldynn has asked that the Scions of the Seventh Dawn secure the support of the Ala Mhigan Resistance, that they might join forces with the Alliance and drive the legions of Garlemald from Eorzea once and for all. This formal request for aid was not unanticipated, and you and your fellow Scions take little time to reach a consensus. To Ala Mhigo you will go -- with Lyse to lead the way, given her ties to the Resistance.
- As you are preparing to leave the Rising Stones, you are met by Yugiri and Gosetsu. The pair have resolved to return to the nation of Doma, in the Far East, to aid their comrades in the fight against Garlemald. Though your battlefields are a thousand malms apart, your purpose is one and the same, and so you bid them farewell, hoping that you might meet again one day to celebrate the liberation of two lands.
- From Amarissaix's Spire, you and your fellow Scions look on Baelsar's Wall, and Castrum Oriens. Beyond them lies Gyr Abania, which has languished under imperial rule for twenty long years...
- The serpent officer knows you at once. His man stands ready to escort you to the Wall, where the soldiers of four great nations have gathered in preparation for a long and bloody campaign.
- At last you come to the fringes of Gyr Abania. To a new war -- to a new front line. In the command center, the Flame General pores over a stack of maps, deliberating his next move.
- Raubahn welcomes you warmly to Castrum Oriens, and restates his position that the Alliance will not advance further without the cooperation of the Ala Mhigan Resistance. As you make ready to depart on your mission, Cid Garlond appears and apprises you of the latest developments in the search for Omega and Shinryu: namely, that there have not been any, the fate and whereabouts of both remaining unknown. All the more reason to secure the support of the Resistance, then, as the Ironworks search parties cannot safely venture any deeper into occupied territory...
Dialogue
Optional
Tataru: The Scions will be spread thin in the coming days, so Riol and I are discussing assignments. I may have to reorganize my filing system!
Alisaie: If all proceeds to plan, we should soon be receiving word that Alliance forces have secured Baelsar's Wall. Until then, however, we can but ensure we are ready to move the moment we hear the news.
Speaking with Alphinaud (Cutscene)
Alphinaud: The question is, how will the Empire respond to the disappearance of Omega and the primal... Alphinaud: Oh, I didn't see you there. Forgive me. Word from Baelsar's Wall is proving long in the coming, and my mind cannot help but stray to grim places.
Tataru: Alphinaud! A message from the Alliance!
Alphinaud: It's about time! Pray summon the others at once.
Tataru: Yes, sir!
Alphinaud: ...General Aldynn reports that his forces have secured the breach in Baelsar's Wall.
Y'shtola: And what of the primal and Omega?
Alphinaud: There is still no sign of either at this time. He writes that they will begin a more thorough investigation shortly... Alphinaud: And, as expected, he wishes to petition the aid of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
Lyse: As expected?
Alphinaud: The Alliance's decision to capture a part of Baelsar's Wall is...open to interpretation.
Alisaie: The Wall serves to demarcate imperial territory, Ala Mhigo included, from the rest of the Eorzea. Alisaie: To an observer, the Alliance's actions could be seen as a prelude to invasion.
Alphinaud: Indeed. And the Alliance leaders have no wish to be branded invaders.
Lyse: You're saying they won't fight for Ala Mhigo? Even after everything that's happened?
Alphinaud: Not without the consent of her people, no. Make no mistake, Lyse—the Alliance is in complete agreement that the Empire must be purged from Eorzea. Alphinaud: However, they will not set foot in Gyr Abania until they have formally secured the consent and cooperation of the Ala Mhigan opposition.
Y'shtola: ...They would have us act as intermediaries?
Alphinaud: Precisely. The Scions are uniquely qualified to serve in this capacity—that is to say, Lyse is, given her personal connection to the Resistance. Alphinaud: Who better than you to broker an agreement between the Alliance and the people of Ala Mhigo? ...Assuming you are willing, of course?
Lyse: Of course I am. You know I'd like nothing more!
Alphinaud: As for who should accompany you on said diplomatic mission...I had a mind to volunteer myself.
Lyse: Well, that covers the talking part. But you just know there'll be trouble along the way. Are you available?
< What will you say? > < As if you have to ask! > < ... >
< As if you have to ask! > Lyse: Thanks. It means a lot, knowing you'll be there.
< ... > Lyse: Look, I know I've kept things from you, and I'm sorry, I really am. But that's all over now, I swear. And...it'd mean a lot to me, having you at my side.
(Both) Y'shtola: I too shall accompany you. Such endeavors are seldom hampered by a surfeit of healers.
Krile: Good point! Allow me to offer my services as well.
Alisaie: I have spent quite enough time here of late, so I'll be coming, but we will need someone to keep an eyes on things. Alisaie: I trust you have no objections?
Urianger: None, my lady. Gladly shall I continue to serve as caretaker of the Waking Sands, and there keep watch for signs of primal and Ascian activity both.
Thancred: As capable as my learned friend undoubtedly is, there are some troubles that may prove too much for a single Scion—on account of which, I mean to stay.
Alphinaud: It is settled, then. Let us each see to our preparations.
Optional
Tataru: You remember M'naago, don't you? The messenger who brought word of the Griffin's attack on Baelsar's Wall? Well, she left not long ago, having made a full recovery. If you see her in Gyr Abania, be sure to send my love!
Lyse: So, it's finally happening... Don't tell anyone, but I'm feeling a little bit nervous. Only a bit, mind. I'll be fine once we get going. ...Hopefully.
Homei: What will become of our homeland? I know not what to think of this endeavor...
Isildaure: Were I ten years younger—nay, five!—I would not hesitiate to join Lady Yugiri and Lord Gosetsu in their fight for freedom!
Ephemie: Even Tataru has her limits, and so I have taken it upon myself to assist her in managing communications with various organizations and our members in the field. Riol and the others are counting on us for our support, after all.
Gosetsu: You are ready, shadow walker? There can be no turning back once we depart.
Yugiri: Almost. There is but one thing that remains undone...
Y'shtola: ...In our absence, Urianger and Thancred will handled administrative affairs. Continue to coordinate your operations with Alianne and the others, and report to them directly should you receive word of primal activity.
Riol: Aye, aye, Cap'n. Ye can count on us.
Alisaie: There's no going back once we cross this bridge—and the gods only know what awaits us on the other side.
Krile: Minfilia would have given anything for a chance to liberate her homeland. Were she still with us, I know she'd be the one leading the way.
Coultenet: Papalymo's absence will be keenly felt for some time. Would that we had the strength to aid others in his stead...
Hoary Boulder: Spirits, Coultenet, spirits! Even if we are naught more than bit players in their tale, we must do our utmost to support the senior Scions—and [Forename] most of all!
Ocher Boulder: Well said, Hoary! Every man to his purpose, and we must not doubt ours!
Aenor: Hmm... Even as "bit players" they show such passion, such fervor! Oh, what I wouldn't give to be a bit player too—or better yet, play with their—
Clemence: Sister! Please, you never know who might be listening! And more importantly, we have our own mission to attend to—and if you're too busy thinking such thoughts, you're liable to get us both killed!
Radolf: Ever will the dawn continue to rise. Even as you bring light to faraway lands, we who stay behind shall keep our halls free of shadow.
Arenvald: 'Twould seem that the Alliance has committed its forces to the liberation of Ala Mhigo. Will I live to see the day...?
Speaking with Alphinaud (Cutscene)
Alphinaud: Ready, my friend? Alphinaud: Well, then. Tataru—I leave the Rising Stones in your capable hands.
Tataru: Don't worry, Alphinaud! I'll see that the place is still standing when you come back!
Yugiri: Mistress Y'shtola has unfolded all. You are bound for Gyr Abania?
Alphinaud: Aye. The Alliance would have us make contact with the Ala Mhigan Resistance as soon as possible.
Yugiri: It begins, then—as soon it shall in Doma, if the gods are good. 'Tis but a pity that it must be now. I am sorry that we shall not be present to fight beside you in the battles to come...
Alphinaud: You have stood with us countless times, Lady Yugiri. Pray do not apologize.
Yugiri: Then let us thank you instead. You and yours stood with us from the first, when we came to this land as refugees in search of sanctuary. Yugiri: Loath am I to think what might have become of my people had you not extended to us the hand of friendship. We will never forget—this I solemnly swear.
Alphinaud: Much has changed since first you set foot on these shores. Revenant's toll stands as a testament to that. I am sure your people will manage in your absence.
Yugiri: Indeed. They have built a new home for themselves, and lo longer need me to shepherd them. The time has come for Gosetsu and I to return to our master—to our home.
Lyse: I know how you feel. It's time I went home too...
Gosetsu: Though our battlefields be a thousand malms apart, our purpose is one! Let all men hearken to the clarion call of freedom—of liberation—from Eorzea to the Far East, that they may rise up and cast down the curs of Garlemald!
Lyse: Take care, you hear me? When all this is over, we're going to celebrate—together—just you wait!
Yugiri: I should like that very much. Fare you well.
Alphinaud: A thousand malms apart, yet united in purpose... Let us pray both our endeavors meet with success. Shall we, then?
Tataru: Wait, wait not yet! I knew I'd forgotten something important! Lyse, can you come with me?
Lyse: ...Me? What, now? Um...all right, then. If you insist...
Tataru: Heh heh heh... What do you think? Tataru: As you can see, I designed it to be light and loose—an outfit tailor-made to the needs of a skilled fighter like Lyse.
Alphinaud: Your work never ceases to impress. Much more of this, and I may have to stop introducing you as the Scions' receptionist and start referring to you as our preeminent seamstress...
Lyse: It's lovely, Tataru. Thank you. I feel like I could take on a legion...
Tataru: I'm glad you like it. And with that, I'll delay you no longer. Safe travels!
Alphinaud: Then onward, to Gyr Abania! Our first stop will be at Amarissaix's Spire, in the East Shroud.
Optional
Tataru: Per Y'shtola's instructions, we will continue to work with the Ironworks and the Alliance to see if we can't find out where Omega and Shinryu went. I'll be sure to stay in touch!
Y'shtola: Though it may not be apparent to the naked eye, the aether here is in turmoil. Not since the Calamity has this land been subjected to forces of the magnitude unleashed by Shinryu and Omega.
Alisaie: Papalymo had to know it would only be temporary. If Grandfather couldn't contain Bahamut with the power of a thousand thousand prayers, then what chance did his disciple stand, armed only with a broken staff...
Lyse: ...I won't let you down, Papalymo. I promise.
Krile: Was it always his plan to sacrifice his life to complete the ritual? To bring forth the arbiter of his vengeance, but not remain to see the aftermath?
Speaking with Alphinaud at Amarissaix's Spire
Alphinaud: All are present and accounted for. When you are ready, my friend, pray inform the officer that we wish to proceed into Gyr Abania.
(Optional) Alphinaud: We should depart as soon as possible—for Lyse's sake. Staring at the Wall will do little to improve her state of mind.
Speaking with the serpent officer
Serpent Officer: Ah, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. We were told to expect you. Shall I summon someone to escort you to the Wall?
Cutscene
Lyse: I remember crossing the border. Standing in Gyr Abania once more. Me and my fellow scions...The Warrior of Light among us. Lyse: Behind us, Baelsar's Wall, cutting the land in two. Freedom on one side, tyranny on the other. Lyse: Tyranny...and the promise of a new beginning. But one that could only be bought with flames and blood.
Optional
Alisaie: So this is East End. Not too different from the rest of the Shroud, is it? Though, truth be told, I'm not sure why I thought it would be.
Alphinaud: To see the colors of so many nations—Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul'dah, and now Ishgard—well nigh brings a tear to my eye... We have much to be proud of, [Forename].
Lyse: The General's in high spirits, don't you think? I know the feeling!
Y'shtola: The Alliance has done well to repurpose these imperial facilities for their own use so quickly.
Krile: Quite an atmosphere here, isn't there? Everyone seems to be on pins and needles...though one can hardly blame them, given recent events.
Speaking with Raubahn (Cutscene)
Raubahn: Greetings, Scions. On behalf of the Eorzean Alliance, I welcome you to Castrum Oriens.
Alphinaud: Thank you, General. We were relieved to hear that the forces secured the wall without incident. Have the imperials made any attempt to retake the castrum since then?
Raubahn: None. Save for a few skirmishes between our scouts and their patrols, we had barely any contact with them. But we all know it's only a matter of time before things escalate. Raubahn: As if attacking Baelsar's Wall weren't enough, Ilberd summoned a primal right on their doorstep—and Garlemald is not like to let such shows of defiance go unanswered.
Alphinaud: 'Twas a declaration of war, even if it was not Ilberd's to make. And now we are bound by it, for weal or for woe. The Scions stand ready to serve, General. What would you ask of us?
Raubahn: As stated in my message, the Alliance will not proceed without the support and cooperation of the Ala Mhigan people. We would have you serve as our emissaries and make contact with the Resistance.
Lyse: Consider it done, General. We won't let you down, I swear.
Raubahn: Then I'll leave you to it. Goddsspeed!
Cid: Hah! Of all the castra in all the world, you walk into mine.
Alphinaud: Master Garlond! What brings you here?
Cid: A certain missing Allagan weapon and draconic primal. Omega and—Shinryu, I think the shinobi called it? Anyway, we've been studying their trail of destruction, hoping it might lead us somewhere—which it has singularly failed to do.
Raubahn: Then 'tis like Omega fell to earth in occupied territory...meaning it may already be in imperial hands.
Cid: Even so, it bears repeating that we engaged the stasis systems. Assuming the command was received and executed successfully, the weapon will be of no use to them. Assuming. We should hurry up and find it, regardless.
Raubahn: All the more reason to reach out to the Resistance. If we want to press on into Gyr Abania, we'll need their blessing.
Lyse: Everyone's counting on us. Let's not waste any more time talking!
