Landis

Landis, formerly the Republic of Landis, is a nation located in Ilsabard and conquered by the Garlean Empire.

Tacticians of Landis have tamed beasts for generations, and the country is also known for its mage-knights from the city of Mannatheihwo.

History

Fall of the Republic of Landis

The Republic of Landis was conquered by the Garlean Empire more than 30 years ago.

Landis was the homeland of Basch van Gabranth and his son Noah van Gabranth. A knight of Landis, Basch bent the knee to the empire.

March on Dalmasca

30 years ago, Basch found and enlisted the mage-knights of Mannatheihwo such as Sartauvoir Soranus for the empire's march on Dalmasca to counter Dalmasca's sorcerers.

After the successful invasion of Bozja, the IVth was ordered by Emperor Solus to proceed to their next target, the Kingdom of Dalmasca. Legatus Basch van Gabranth secretly feared Dalmasca's war mages and─seeking to fight fire with fire, as it were─hatched a plan to form his own contingent of powerful sorcerers. To accomplish this, he set his eyes on the subjugated former Republic of Landis─in particular, Mannatheihwo, the only city in the republic to boast its own company of mage-knights. Though it was common practice for the Garleans to disband the knight companies of the nations it conquered and absorb them into the imperial army, their hatred of all things magical compelled them to quash the mage-knights of Mannatheihwo entirely. Fearing for their lives, these sorcerers had fled their homes and scattered across once-proud Landis. Knowing this, Legatus Gabranth set out in search of them.

Imperial Occupation

In the decades since Garlemald conquered Landis, its cities such as Abdella have returned to a happy normalcy under imperial rule.

With the collapse of the IVth Legion after Save The Queen, and the collapse of Garlemald after the Final Days, it is unclear what has happened to Landis since.
