※This quest is available for a limited time only.

※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.

  • In the midst of your conversation with Haermaga, a bloodcurdling scream rends the air. Clearly some manner of threat has descended upon the Faire, but what? Track down the terrified tourist to find out.
  • The terrified tourist is quick to inform you that a strangely off-kilter creature has fled to the west. Perhaps there are more clues to be found in that direction.
  • According to the sweaty guest, the mystery creature was green in color and appeared to be doing a jig. It eventually traipsed away, though not before conveniently leaving behind what appeared to be part of its body. Further investigation will surely lead you to answers.
  • Truth be told, the needle left behind at the scene is enough to clue you in to the creature's identity. Sure enough, when Beaudefoin and P'obyano come running up moments later, your theory proves correct: there are cactuars on the loose, and now it's up to you to track them down.
  • You locate the cavorting cactuar, and a refreshing gust from Beaudefoin's uchiwa succeeds in calming it. Unfortunately, there are six more still unaccounted for. Trusty uchiwa in hand, you and your companions must now set off to soothe the rest of the savage beasts.

Dialogue

Accepting the Quest

Mayaru Moyaru: Do my eyes deceive me, or do I spy a lass/lad/familiar face who looks like she/he could do with some proper summer recreation? That's right─the sun's rays are out in full force, and so is our beloved Moonfire Faire!
Mayaru Moyaru: These days, the event doubles as free promotion for the Adventurers' Guild, you know. The brave and the bold show off their heroics, and afterwards, the faire guests flock to the Guild in droves to hire them.
Mayaru Moyaru: But the real star of the show is the acclaimed Eorzean Nimble Warrior course, bringing in hundreds upon hundreds of new challengers!
Mayaru Moyaru: At any rate, we could really use more help out there, so if perchance I've piqued your interest, I suggest you ship out to Costa del Sol and speak to our chief chaperone Haermaga!
(Optional)
Mayaru Moyaru: The Moonfire Faire is ever short of hands, so if yours happen to be idle at the moment, we'd love to have you in Costa del Sol!

Speaking to chief chaperone Haermaga at Costa del Sol (Cutscene)

(New to Moonfire Faire)
Haermaga: Welcome one and all to the Moonfire Faire! You've got more of an adventurer's look about you, but... Well, we should be glad of the help regardless.
(Not new to Moonfire Faire)
Haermaga: [Forename]! Now there's a sight for sore eyes. Did Mayaru Moyaru send you out here to lend a hand?
(Both)
Haermaga: This year, the event is shaping up to be a thrill for visitors and staff alike! Allow me to give you a brief outline of what we have planned.
Haermaga: In case the screaming and splashing hadn't given it away, we've brought back the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course with all of its explosive challenges intact!
Haermaga: And if the summer sun gets to be too much, grant yourself a refreshing reprieve by enjoying an icy treat or playing with the polar bears!
Haermaga: Even better, this year we've added a little Far Eastern flair with these hand fans. They're called “uchiwa,” and they drive away evil spirits, or so I'm told.
Haermaga: To ensure their authenticity, we hired an expert in the art of the festival─a little Namazu fellow─to craft us a hundred crates of them! And what color could be more fitting for Moonfire than bright, blazing red?
Haermaga: Seeing as the origins of the event can be traced back to the Bombard hunts of years past, I say uchiwa are a perfect fit for the spirit of the occasion─and judging from the sizable crowds, I'm far from the only one!
Haermaga: The downside, of course, is that we presently find ourselves quite ill-equipped to manage a turnout of this magnitude. Personally, I'd like to bolster our security cadre if I can.
Haermaga: As it stands, none of us would be able to leave our posts in the event of a serious emergency. So, given the fortuitous timing of your arrival, could I ask you to─
Woman's Voice: >> M-M-MONSTER! AAAAAAAAAHH! <<
Haermaga: Did she say monster!? Damn it all! The people are starting to panic!
Haermaga: Please, [Forename], you've got to help us. I'll stay here and try to keep the crowd calm─you head north and find that woman!
(Optional)
Haermaga: That scream sounded like it came from somewhere north of here. If there is a monster, I need you to handle it!

Searching for the terrified tourist

Terrified Tourist: The monster was just here, I swear it! It was leering at me from behind that rock, making these off-kilter little motions, and then it ran off to the east!
Terrified Tourist: I thought for certain it would come over here and...oogh, I feel faint! I need to go lie down...

Searching for clues

Sweaty Guest: Damn... I didn't stand a chance against that thing!
Sweaty Guest: You should have seen it! I was minding my own business out here, practicing my steps, when suddenly that thing showed up out of nowhere to challenge me to a dance-off! Then, after it utterly trounced me, it raced off again!
Sweaty Guest: Would that I could tell you where, or even which direction. Although, come to think of it, I believe I saw something fall from its body.
Sweaty Guest: Well, it doesn't much matter to me anymore. I can hear summer's call, and it must be heeded! To the ocean with me!
Sweaty Guest: Whatever fell off the thing, you'll find it lying over there, if you think it will help your search.

Examining the fallen item (Cutscene)

Beaudefoin: Aha! There she/he is!
(If new to Moonfire Faire)
Beaudefoin: You there! Might you be the adventurer Haermaga consigned to the security detail? Worry not—the chaperones are here to help!
(If not new to Moonfire Faire)
Beaudefoin: Glad as ever to see you again, [Forename]! Haermaga told us you might be in need of urgent assistance, so here we are!
(Both)
P'obyano: We've heard reports of a green monster running amok. Have you learned aught in the way of a clue?
Beaudefoin: It dropped something, did it? Looks to be a needle, by my reckoning.
< What will you say? >
< It's obvious we're dealing with a cactuar. >
< It's obvious we're dealing with an inebriated weaver. >
< It's obvious we're dealing with a cactuar. >
P'obyano: Cactuars in La Noscea of all places? Surely they would struggle to survive so far removed from their native habitat of Thanalan...
< It's obvious we're dealing with an inebriated weaver. >
Beaudefoin: Surely that woman would not have mistaken a drunkard for a monster. Given that it's green in color and possessed of needles, that would suggest some type of cactuar.
P'obyano: Cactuars in La Noscea of all places? Surely they would struggle to survive so far removed from their native habitat of Thanalan...
(Both)
???: >> I am so, so sorry about this! <<
P'obyano: M-Madam Memeja! If I'm not mistaken, was it not Master Gegeruju himself who invited you out to Costa del Sol?
Memeja: Yes, I traveled all the way from Ul'dah at the summons of my friend Gegeruju. Naturally, I couldn't bear the thought of my dear pets missing out on the fun and festivities, so I brought them along with me.
Memeja: >> Not for a moment did I ever think they would act out like this! You have my deepest apologies! <<
Memeja: They were perfect angels when we stopped in to see Gegeruju. He even gave them treats!
Memeja: But the moment I stepped away for a drink, they went mad, and poor Gegeruju couldn't rein them in!
Memeja: By the time I got back, they were gone... I swear to you, this has never happened before... <sob>
P'obyano: Well, that would certainly explain how a cactuar ended up in La Noscea. Regardless, if your pets pose a danger to the faire-goers, we may have to subdue them by force.
Memeja: No! Please! I've raised them since they were pups─they'd never hurt a fly! <sob>
P'obyano: I don't fancy the prospect myself, but what other option is there? Given that the Moonfire Faire would have no venue were it not for Master Gegeruju, I'd obviously prefer if we didn't upset a dear friend of his.
Beaudefoin: Yes, termination should be a last resort. Let us first attempt to capture them.
P'obyano: A sensible plan. Should things turn violent, it would only frighten the attendees. This calls for a more subtle approach─just the three of us, perhaps?
Beaudefoin: Indeed. I would see this situation sorted swiftly that we might return to the faire.
Beaudefoin: If we work quickly, we may manage to find it before it escapes the bounds of Costa del Sol. Thus I propose we split up. [Forename], my friend, will you search the west side of the island?

Optional

Haermaga: P'obyano told me a cactuar is on the loose. Sorry for the trouble─can I count on you to handle it?
Beaudefoin: Worry not, my friend─I have this area well in hand. You should take your search westward!
P'obyano: Where could it have gone? You'd think a 'cavorting cactuar' would be hard to miss here in La Noscea...
Memeja: They're gone, they're gone, they're gone! My babies are GONE!

Searching for the cavorting cactuar (Cutscene)

Beaudefoin: Did you find something!?
P'obyano: It appears she/he did. But how are we going to capture it?
Beaudefoin: I've never seen a cactuar look so dangerous. Is it just me, or is it radiating an aura of pure malice?
Memeja: I've never seen the poor thing like this, either! Come to think of it, Gegeruju told me it seemed to him as though they were possessed!
P'obyano: In that case, perhaps the aura is an evil spirit. If only we could purify it somehow...
< What will you say? >
< Perhaps an uchiwa would help? >
< What that thing needs is an exorcism. >
(Both)
P'obyano: Of course! In the Far East, they use uchiwa to ward off evil spirits, right? Maybe our festival fans would work!
Beaudefoin: In that case, allow me to do the honors!
Beaudefoin: >> Evil spirit, begone! Uchiwasshoi! <<
P'obyano: Yes! Well, that was easy. Shall we head back for drinks?
Memeja: Erm... Terribly sorry to interject, but I think there's been a misunderstanding.
Memeja: >> That's only one of my dear cactuars. I'm still missing the other six! <<
Memeja: I do appreciate you finding Cacty, of course, but I'm worried about Cactilo, and Cactina, and Cactistopher, and─
P'obyano: Wait, so when you said “pets”─you brought seven cactuars to La Noscea!?
Beaudefoin: It is concerning, then, that we scoured every inch of the island and only found one. It appears we will have to take our search to the mainland.
Beaudefoin: Very well! Let us take up our uchiwa and find these cactaurs, that we might ease them of their torment!
System: You have learned the emote Uchiwasshoi!
