Trial and Raid Tokens

Trial and Raid Tokens are completion rewards that drop directly to the player's inventory for clearing various trials and raids. These items are not rolled on. If the player's inventory is full when they complete the duty, they will fail to obtain the token.

Trial tokens have no weekly restrictions. However, raid tokens (with the exception of chaotic alliance raid tokens) always start out limited to one per week, and limits are eventually lifted after a new raid comes out or in the next major patch.

Totems from extreme trials and savage raids are exchanged for items that can drop from the respective trial or raid, and thus serve to mitigate against poor luck during loot rolls.

The 8-player extreme trials drop totems that can be exchanged in the relevant expansion's Minor City for weapons or accessories that drop from the trial. Several months after the trial is added, 99 of the totems can be exchanged for a mount that is an uncommon to rare drop from the trial. Depending on the trial, players will receive either one or two totems per clear.

The 8-player normal raids have a reward only on the final floor of a tier, and either 7 or 4 of this reward are exchanged in the current expansion's Minor City for an Allagan tomestone token. This tomestone token is then used, along with 500 weekly-capped Allagan Tomestones, to buy an endgame weapon that is the same item level as other gear purchased with weekly-capped tomestones.

The 8-player savage raids reward books, one type per floor of a given tier. The latest set of books can be exchanged at vendors in the current expansion's Minor City for gear that is of the maximum item level for current raids and also for current weekly-capped tomestone gear upgrade items. Starting from patch 6.4, the book obtained from the fourth duty of a savage raid tier can be exchanged for books from the first three duties. Older books are not phased out, but remain so that the dyeable (Savage) gear may still be purchased for glamour.

The 8-player ultimate raids reward a token to each player upon defeating the final boss. These can be exchanged at certain vendors for Ultimate Weapons with three materia slots and special visual effects.

The 24-player alliance raids also have tokens, usually a coin, which are initially weekly-limited. However these are used to purchase Upgrade Items used to augment tomestone gear, improving its item level by 10 and making the gear dyeable. Only alliance raids in the current expansion drop tokens, because tokens in alliance raids below the level cap are rendered obsolete.
