Varshahn has a message from Sharlayan.

— In-game description

Steps

Journal

  • Varshahn has a message from Sharlayan.
  • While enjoying your sojourn in Radz-at-Han, you learn from Varshahn that the Students of Baldesion have requested your presence in Sharlayan. Thus do you set forth for the Baldesion Annex, where Ojika Tsunjika awaits.
  • You meet with Krile and G'raha Tia, who inform you that they had sent for you on Erenville's behalf. The gleaner has returned from his expedition abroad rather earlier than expected, and the change in his plans is likely related to a visitor he wishes for you to meet. While awaiting your arrival, Erenville has gone to the Studium, and you decide to seek him out there.
  • After a brief search, you manage to find Erenville and the visitor, who introduces herself as Wuk Lamat, claimant to the throne of Tuliyollal in the far-western continent of Tural. The gregarious woman wastes no time revealing her business: she wants you to accompany her to her homeland and help her triumph in the impending ritual of succession, a contest to determine the next ruler. As it is a rather abrupt request to make of someone she has only just met, she proposes going on a hunt together, the better to get acquainted.

Dialogue

Talking to Varshahn:

Varshahn: Ah, Forename. One of my clerks was just here with a message for you.
Varshahn: The Students of Baldesion request your presence in Sharlayan at your earliest convenience.
Varshahn: Indebted as I am to our friends, I had hoped that I too might be of service, but it is you alone that they require.
Varshahn: In the meantime, I shall continue showing Azdaja the city. From notable landmarks to the people's lives, there is still much and more for her to see.
Varshahn: Farewell for now, my friend. I look forward to the day we set forth on another adventure together.
Varshahn: If you've no pressing business, pray make your way to the Baldesion Annex at once. Ojika awaits your arrival.

Talking to Ojika Tsunjika:

Ojika Tsunjika: A warm and hearty welcome to you, Forename! I gather you received our message?
Ojika Tsunjika: Please wait here while I fetch Krile and G'raha.

Cutscene:

Krile has conditional dialogue if the player has completed Feature QuestEmbraced by Gods.

Krile: Thank you for coming on such short notice.
Krile: And forgive us for sending for you so soon after your trials in the void [, to say nothing of your grueling battle against the Twelve].
Krile: Now then, we aren't actually the ones who require your presence, but Erenville.
Krile: He stopped by recently, you see, and asked us to reach out to you on his behalf.
Krile: I imagine you're as surprised as we are, given that he was supposed to be away on a long expedition.
G'raha Tia: Something must have necessitated a change in his plans.
Krile: He also mentioned that he would be tending to business at the Studium. Shall we look for him there?
Krile: All he would tell me is that there is someone whom he wishes Forename to meet.

Optional Dialogue:

G'raha Tia: Erenville's early return likely has something to do with this visitor. Who could it be, I wonder...

Talking to Krile:

Krile: Now then, where is Erenville?

Voiced Cutscene:

Krile: Erenville!
Erenville: Apologies for the wait. I hope I haven't called you away from anything important.
Erenville: I chanced upon some commissioned items at my destination, so I thought I might deliver them.
G'raha Tia: Where did you go, if I may ask?
Erenville: The New World─Tural.
Krile: You went to Tural!? Then the person who you wished to introduce...
Erenville: Aye, she hails from there. I present to you...
G'raha Tia: ...It seems you've lost her.
Krile: Did she wander off?
Exuberant Newcomer: Sorry, sorry! It's just so different here─I can't help but want to explore!
Erenville: Well, while you were exploring, your candidate came to us.
Erenville: This is him. The adventurer you crossed the seas to meet.
Exuberant Newcomer: Ooh... You weren't exaggerating. It's plain he's no ordinary man.
Wuk Lamat: I'm Wuk Lamat. Claimant to the throne of Tuliyollal.
Krile: Tuliyollal...
Erenville: It's Tural's governing nation. The capital bears the same name.
Wuk Lamat: I'll get to the point. I want you to come with me to my homeland.
Erenville: Given the magnitude of the request, perhaps you should explain why you're making it.
Wuk Lamat: Hahaha! Of course, of course!
Wuk Lamat: Soon an event of great import will be held in Tural: the rite of succession.
Wuk Lamat: Taking the form of a contest, it will determine who next ascends the throne.
Wuk Lamat: As daughter to its present keeper, I will participate─and I have every intention of winning.
Wuk Lamat: I was searching for champions to join me when Erenville told me about you.
Wuk Lamat: A mighty warrior who knows no fear! Who sweeps aside terrible fiends as if they were reeds! Who flew to the edge of existence and saved our star!
Erenville: She asked who Eorzea's greatest hero was, and so I told her. Much more elegantly, I might add.
Wuk Lamat: Now you know why. You'll come to Tural, yes?
G'raha Tia: Wait! Let's all just...slow down.
G'raha Tia: Wuk Lamat, was it? You claim to be of the royal family, but is it not the Mamool Ja who rule in Tural?
Wuk Lamat: Tuliyollal is a nation of many peoples. Not only the Mamool Ja as some across the seas are quick to assume.
Wuk Lamat: That said, its present ruler is a Mamool Ja, and one blessed with two heads besides.
Wuk Lamat: He's also my father. Not by blood, obviously, but he raised me as his own, and that's what matters.
G'raha Tia: So that is the way of it... My apologies if I was indelicate.
Wuk Lamat: Hardly! I know little about your land, and nothing about your parentage.
Wuk Lamat: Ah, but in my eagerness I've gotten ahead of myself. I can't expect you to agree on the spot when we've only just met.
Wuk Lamat: If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Just know, though, that if it's adventure you seek, you could do far worse than come with me.
Wuk Lamat: Now, this is only a rumor...
Wuk Lamat: But apparently, the contest will involve the fabled city of gold and the legendary beast Valigarmanda.
Wuk Lamat: Tell me that doesn't pique your interest.

What will you say?

> You have my complete attention.
Wuk Lamat: We're going to get along, you and I!
Wuk Lamat: Tural has no shortage of unexplored frontiers and deadly fiends. You'll never want for excitement, I promise you!
> This is strictly a rumor, nothing more?
Wuk Lamat: Well, the details of the contest have yet to be announced.
Wuk Lamat: But the rumors come from someone involved in the preparations, so I'd say there's more than a grain of truth to them.
> Golden city... I've heard about it before.
Wuk Lamat: So the tales have reached even these shores! I can't help but feel proud!
Erenville: I advise you not to put much store by these rumors. Golden cities are naught but a dreamer's fancy.
Wuk Lamat: Says the dreamer who was bent on finding one when he was a child. Just because you failed doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Krile: Tuliyollal and the golden city... Just like in the letter to Grandfather.
Wuk Lamat: Regardless of what the contest may entail, it'll be no simple thing. If I'm to triumph, I'll need capable and dependable companions.
Wuk Lamat: So let's go on a hunt together! There's no better way to get acquainted!

Optional Dialogue:

Krile: A journey to Tural...
Erenville: That's the long and short of it. At the very least, I ask that you go on this hunt of hers and take her measure for yourself.
Wuk Lamat: So, where to for our hunt? The stronger the prey, the better!
