Koruri is known as Isari's best diver—and not only for her skill at swimming, or the length she can hold her breath. As well as the ability to memorize the formation s of the nearby coral reefs, she boasts extensive knowledge of the types of fish and seaweed which live upon each outcropping. Such an understanding of the ocean's bounty allowed the Hyuran woman to provide for her family, even under the oppressive rule of the Empire. Although she shares an age with Nayoshi, a youth considered to be the village's worst fisherman, the vast difference between the size of their catches proved a barrier to friendship in a society which values fishing prowess above all else. Now that Nayoshi has found a way to utilize his unusual talents, however, the bond between the two has begun to flourish.
