Flavor Text

No longer merely the domain of savage beasts, this technique, when reproduced by the blue mage, involves not the devouring of rent flesh, but rather heals and invigorates its caster through the absorption of aether.

Tips

Acquisition Tips

  • If obtaining the spell from the Decaying Gourmand:
    • Normally, the gourmand will trap a party member, and their allies need to defeat the stomach to free them.
    • This spell can be obtained solo here by reducing the boss to 10% HP or lower, putting a damage-over-time effect on it, then being Devoured. So long as the boss gets the spell off, then dies from the DoT before killing you, you can learn the spell. However, doing this requires dealing a lot of damage very quickly, so it is not feasible at levels 50 or 60.
  • Getting the spell from Nullchu is much more straightforward if playing solo, since it devours the Rafflesia add instead of a player.

Other Tips

  • Devour is highly recommended when you are tanking with   Aetheric Mimicry: Tank, as it gives an effectively-permanent buff to max HP, as well as a bit of healing.

History

  • Patch 5.4 (2020-12-08): Increase to duration when under the effect of Aetherial Mimicry: Tank has been changed from 15s to 70s.
  • Patch 5.15 (2019-12-09): Added.
