Catoblepas

For centuries, the catoblepas was believed to be a legend, the thought of a creature with the head of a boar, the body of a buffalo, the scales of a peiste, and the eye of an ahriman too preposterous for even the most open-minded naturalists to entertain. Until, that is, herds of beast bearing the very same features began appearing in Eorzea after the Calamity. It is believed that the catoblepas's single eye has the capacity to collect and focus aether, which, when in danger, the creature will direct at a predator in order to stun it.
