Dialogue

Balan: Refugees must first spend a night here in Quarrymill that the elementals might judge them worthy of living in the Twelveswood.
Balan: Their decision cannot be appealed. Every one of us, Gridanians included, dwell here only by the elementals' leave.

Sidequest Savage Snares

Balan: Greetings, adventurer. Perhaps you have heard, but these forests have fallen prey to a band of poachers. They litter the ground with dastardly snares, caring not a whit for the innocents─small animals and travelers alike─caught in their vile clutches.
Balan: I am forbidden to leave my post, but perhaps you could scour the area and see to any ghastly steel maws that you encounter. Be careful─the poachers themselves may be lying in ambush, awaiting their prey.
Balan: You've done good work today, friend. Still, with that self-styled “King of the Coeurlclaws” running the operation, the poachers are not like to yield easily. No, we must be more vigilant than ever.

Feature quest The Nightmare's End

Balan: I say, aren't you that adventurer who's been exploring the Palace of the Dead? [Forename], isn't it? You've caused quite a stir among the men. Indeed, everyone in the Shroud speaks of your daring. Some more favorably than others...
Balan: You see, there's this Lalafell who came to Buscarron's Druthers a few days past. He practically lives in the tavern now, always deep in his cups, muttering about dead friends and vengeful spirits. He mentioned your name amidst his ramblings. Several times, in fact.
Balan: We usually pay no mind to drunkards at the tavern, but to be frank, he's become something of a nuisance. Perhaps you could speak with him? If the gods are good, you'll catch him in a moment of sobriety.
Balan: Please see what you can do about that poor drunken soul. I fear before long he'll anger the other patrons.
