Salted Earth is an action unlocked by questing at level 52. It is available for Dark Knight.

- Upon execution, this action will change to Salt and Darkness after it is learned at Lv. 86 and if Action Change Settings are enabled.
Gameplay
- Damage is also inflicted upon the patch of salted earth being created. This means that this action deals a total of 300 potency across its duration.
- Despite its odd 90-second cooldown, it should still be used whenever available as saving it for bursts will eventually lead to entire usages being lost. It can still be delayed if enemies will not stay within the patch of salted earth for most of its duration.
History
Patch 7.0 (2024-07-02): No longer changes to Salt and Darkness upon execution.
Patch 6.0 (2021-12-07):
- Changed "Creates a patch of salted earth, dealing unaspected damage with a potency of 60 to any enemies who enter." to "Creates a patch of salted earth at your feet, dealing unaspected damage with a potency of 50 to any enemies who enter," i.e. the action changed from needing manual ground targeting to automatically placing the AoE at your current location.
- Added "Action changes to Salt and Darkness upon execution."
Patch 5.0 (2019-07-02):
- Potency has been reduced from 75 to 60.
- The additional effect "Increases Blood Gauge by 1" has been removed.
- Effect duration has been reduced from 21 to 15 seconds.
- Recast time has been increased from 45 to 90 seconds.

Trivia
Salting the earth is the practice of spreading salt in the soil of conquered land to prevent crops from growing, and thus preventing the conquered from rebuilding.
