Pike Falls

Pike Falls refers to the majestic drops of the Velodyna River, as well as their immediate surrounds. Precipitously straight and narrow, the waterfalls are named for their resemblance to the pikes favored by foot soldiers of the old Ala Mhigan army.

Landmarks

Castellum Corvi

A waypoint on the road to Castrum Oriens, this structure - thought to be renamed during Nael van Darnus's temporary command of the XIVth Legion - mainly served as a guardhouse for imperial troops. Upon the defeat of the Empire's forces at Baelsar's Wall, the castellum was quickly abandoned by its occupants in anticipation of a committed Alliance advance.

The Comet's Tail

Fabled to have been formed by the passage of Rhalgr's guiding star in the time of the Sixth Umbral Calamity, this stony corridor is aglow with an ethereal incandescence. Though the legend is the more romantic interpretation, scholars have determined that the emission of light is caused by a unique mineral deposit buried within the rock.

The Pall of Clarity

Standing Upon this bridge which spans the Velodyna River, one can bathe in the spray of the nearby waterfall, and experience a cleansing of both body and spirit. It is said that the monks of the Fist of Rhalgr would visit this very spot to practice their meditation techniques.

The Velodyna River

One of Eorzea's mightiest rivers, the Velodyna rushes forth from its source in Abalathia's Spine. Its waters teem with life, but as the natural border between the Black Shroud and Gyr Abania, numerous historical conflicts have steeped its banks in death. In political terms, the river also delineates the shared boundary of the nations of Gridania and Ala Mhigo.
