Journal
- J'yhuh Tia awaits the preparation of his newest pupil.
- After outfitting yourself and forging your first pact as a beastmaster, you are ready to begin training. As J'yhuh Tia muses on a suitable location, Loosefrox mentions a viable space maintained by the Wood Wailers. J'yhuh Tia surmises she is referring to the Bannock, and so the three of you venture forth to petition the woodland sentries.
- The Wood Wailer you speak to is wary at first, but upon recognizing you as the savior of the realm, immediately and contritely revokes his skepticism. You are given full run of the Bannock, a turn of events that both bemuses and pleases J'yhuh Tia.
- Your lessons in beastmastery begin with J'yhuh Tia teaching you how to call a familiar to your side using a battlehorn. He expects to see your Cu Sith summoned before speaking with him again.
- Your Cu Sith seems in good spirits, so after explaining how to forge pacts with wild beasts, J'yhuh Tia sends you on your first errand as a duo. You are to return to the Bannock after capturing the favor of at least two additional familiars, equaling a total of three entries in your largely blank bestiary.
- Your teacher welcomes you back with a smile and praises you for a job well done. Much of your progress as a beastmaster will be the result of patience and hard work, and J'yhuh Tia reminds you to keep these principles in mind as you continue to hone your skills.
※The next beastmaster quest will be available from J'yhuh Tia upon reaching level 8.

Dialogue
Shkohhh... I suppose I should welcome you. Since I'm your senior and all.
Well, you cut a striking figure. But you'll need to fulfill your promise to gain my tutelage.
Use the Cu Sith gourd to finalize the pact with your first familiar.
Heh. Kornago confidence in your stance already. Welcome to the fold, young beastmaster.
Allow me to explain your kit. Most beastmasters, regardless of tradition, wield axes.
Less for reasons of bloodlust than for brambles. When waist-deep in wilds halfway up a mountain, axes will cut your path surer than any sword.
Pshhh... That shield is to protect yourself, in case you couldn't mindguess. Going head to horn with beastfriends is dangerous business!
Practice speaks louder than words, of course. So let's start you on something practical.
Given people's unfortunate penchant for encroaching on the wilderness, I'd wager there's somewhere to train outside the city...
When I came to find you, Wiseteach, I spied some safegrounds with those soldiers—what are they called? “Wailwooders”?
“Wood Wailers,” I believe. And according to my map...that should be the Bannock. Let's see if a bit of wailing can't avail us some borrowed space.
Pshhh... Shkohhh... “Wood Wailers”? ...Why does wood make them madcry?
This seems an ideal spot to train. If we can get permission...
Beastmasters? On our grounds?
...As impressive as your work with griffins may be, I suggest you Ala Mhigans practice elsewhere. We have our hands full with new recruits, and can't have strangers underfoot.
You misunderstand us, sir. We are not beastmasters of Ala Mhigo, but of the Kornago tradition. If you would but lend us a corner of your space...
...Wait a moment. I recognize you! You're Forename Surname!
F-Forgive my ignorance! Any friends of Mistress/Master Surname are, of course, free to use the Bannock. We are honored!
...Er?
I will report to the Elder Seedseer directly and inform her of your presence here. Please...make yourselves comfortable!
Well, that was...enlightening. I didn't know you had such celebrity.
Regardless, it seems we have the run of the Bannock. Cheers!
Shkohhh... This place is nice enough. At least we won't be shockstopped.
Let's get started, shall we?
We begin with the most basic of basics—calling a familiar to your side.
Any familiar may be summoned by means of a battlehorn. The magicks of each pact are unique and resonate upon your call.
You have to attune your horn first, or your signal will get jumblestuck. Referencing your bestiary should help. Shkohhh... Consider it advice from an actual master.
Best to learn by doing. Ready your battlehorn, and call your Cu Sith.
Open the Master's Bestiary from the main menu, and assign the Cu Sith to your battlehorn via the subcommand.
Beasts may be summoned by executing the Battlehorn ability they are assigned to.
The more beastfriends you make, the more satisfying a bestiary is to pageflip. Shkohhh... Not that you'll ever know.
Use your battlehorn to call your Cu Sith. Your pact with each familiar is different, so refer to your bestiary when in doubt.

Ghhhrrrlll!
Good, good. Your Cu Sith seems to be in fine spirits.
A beastmaster's first familiar is an ally like no other. Nurture this bond.
Beasts differ in their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You would do well to take stock of your partner's every proclivity.
Not only for your own survival, but for the familiars who entrust their lives to you.
That's why we keep bestiaries. Braincases can only hold so much, but what you notejot about your beastfriends will always serve as a mindjog.
With that in mind, it's time for your first assignment. I want you and your Cu Sith to wander these woods and return with two new friends. That's three entries in your bestiary.
Take some time getting used to that axe, and keep in mind that some creatures will never accept a pact—no matter how strong you think you are.
Wiseteach, this one hasn't got enough thinkgut to keep out of a morbol's maw! Her/His soul crystal will do a better job of gauging her/his chances, surely.
Once you find a beast you feel ready to befriend, make your intentions clear. Prove yourself worthy of the pact you offer, and capture the heart of your would-be familiar.
Pshhh... Try challenging too strong a beastfriend, and I have one word for you: peoplepulp.
...Know your limits, in other words. But learning to handle all measure of beasts is the foundation of our craft, so venture forth with curiosity, caution, and courage.
Now, off you go!
Grauh!
Use Gauge to confirm your chances of forging a pact with a given target.
To forge a pact, you must use Capture on the targeted beast before defeating it. Using Capture on a weakened target may increase its chance of success.
Upon befriending a beast, it will be added to your bestiary. Please note that some attempts may not succeed, and you cannot befriend beasts of a higher level than yourself.
Natural habitats of all approachable beasts are noted in the Master's Bestiary. Squirrels in the Central Shroud and sheep in middle La Noscea are recommended for beginners.
You may discover that certain beasts have different names and appearances in the wild than their categorization within the bestiary.
For example, the entry for sabotender may include eponymous beasts as well as cactuars.
Furthermore, subspecies such as the flowering sabotender may boast particularly unusual coloring or appearance.
If you discover an interesting specimen, use Gauge to reveal the potential of befriending it.
Bestiary entries are recorded according to basic species, regardless of the specimen's name or coloring in the field. After fulfilling certain requirements, you will be able to glamour your familiars to take on the appearance of subspecies.
Pshhh... Shkohhh... Have you looked at your bestiary recently? Check there before asking me!
No need to rush. Take some time to get a handle on your axe, and report back once you've secured the loyalty of three different kinds of beasts, your Cu Sith included.

That's the spirit, Forename! Well done.
You've officially taken your first steps upon the Kornago path. Not too trying, I hope?
As for how you choose to walk it...that, I am genuinely eager to see.
Keep your eyes keen and chin up. We'll make a true beastmaster of you yet.
Leveling up as a beastmaster will allow your familiars to use stronger abilities in battle. Hone your skills to better your teamwork!
