Kotokaze Benitoki is the current proprietress of the Shiozake Hostelry, the finest drinking establishment in Kugane. Now thirty-eight years of age, this Far Eastern Hyur took over from the previous owner a full decade ago, but is notoriously private about her life from before that time. Those who ask about the patch over her right eye will be treated to a gentle smile and nothing more. Persisting with a second question will earn a glare from her left eye, and further interrogation is commonly rumored to invite a flurry of punches. Skilled in the culinary arts, with sea pickles a specialty, Kotokaze also has connections with a Koshu brewery, allowing her to offer patrons a selection of exclusive junmaishu—the availability of which is seen by some as a possible link to her inscrutable past.
