Etymology

Einhander is a type of German one-handed sword. The enemy is named after the 1997 shoot-'em-up of the same name, which was developed by Square. The enemy possesses the same gatling gun and position of said gun as the player's default weapon in the 1997 game.

Lore

This highly aggressive horned cloudkin possesses a pair of conjoined legs which it utilizes as a third arm to latch onto and rend its victims asunder. The crew of an Ishgardian airship has even claimed that one of their vessel’s masts was torn from the deck by an einhander and used by the unholy creature to open several holes in her hull.
