Journal
- Bajsaljen is determined to take Castrum Lacus Litore, and would have you join him.
- The Resistance has fought valiantly to force imperial troops to fall back into the castrum, and at last Operation Eagle's Nest can be seen through to completion. Bajsaljen is ready to lead Gunnhildr's Blades into the belly of the beast, and he can think of no better soldier than you to accompany them.
- ※Players may enter Castrum Lacus Litore via the associated critical engagement.
- Your defeat of the imperial soldiers is almost effortless. Before you can plot your next move, however, Misija appears before you with Mikoto, as well as the crystal focus and the legendary blade Save the Queen. Using Mikoto as leverage, Misija coerces you into activating the crystal focus to explore the memories of the holy blade. Her intent is soon made clear when, moments later, Queen Gunnhildr emerges as a primal-like entity, enslaving the minds of the soldiers bearing the title of her guard. The threat of the queen proved too great, forcing the Resistance to retreat from the castrum.
- After regrouping at Utya's Aegis, you discuss the events that took place in the castrum. Mikoto explains that Misija discovered a way to alter the memories of Save the Queen, thereby allowing her to call forth Queen Gunnhildr in a fashion not unlike primal summoning. Having now lost both the castrum and Gunnhildr's Blades, the Resistance must think long and hard on how next to proceed.
- The Resistance suffered a grave defeat at Castrum Lacus Litore, but they are not discouraged. Marsak informs you that reinforcements from Dalmasca have recently arrived, with more en route from the Eastern alliance. Though it will take time, the Resistance will not rest until Bozja is free from imperial rule.
Dialogue
Optional
Marsak: Our next incursion will be into Castrum Lacus Litore. We must seize the fortress both to ensure Mikoto's safety and secure a foothold in Bozja. Failure is not an option. Marsak: If you've naught to discuss, I will leave you to your preparations.
Lilja: Please, [Forename]. You have to save Mikoto... Gods, I still can't understand why Misija would do this.
Accepting the Quest (Cutscene)
Bajsaljen: The time has come, [Forename]. This day, we shall take Castrum Lacus Litore! Bajsaljen: On behalf of the Resistance, I offer you my humblest thanks. We could not have come this far without your aid. Bajsaljen: What say you, my friend? Are you prepared to rout the Garleans?
< What will you say? > < You couldn't stop me if you tried. > < You all seem to have it under control, but if you insist. >
(Both) Bajsaljen: The battle for the castrum will no doubt be the fiercest yet, but do not forget your training. Do not forget all we have fought for. You are Gunnhildr's Blades, and by the queen's grace shall we prevail this day. Now, let us make ready for battle. For Bozja! Bajsaljen: Reports suggest a powerful mage presently commands the castrum, and the continued presence of Lyon sas Helsos will no doubt prove troublesome, to say the least. Bajsaljen: Still, with you at our side, I am confident we will be victorious in the end. Bajsaljen: If we succeed, southern Bozja may very well be freed from the Empire's grasp. With you at our side, I have little doubt we will emerge victorious in the end.
System: You may now access the critical engagement "the Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore." System: This critical engagement will be initiated when a sufficient number of players with access to Castrum Lacus Litore are present on the southern front. System: Furthermore, by completing other skirmishes and critical engagements, the time required before the Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore can be initiated again will be reduced. System: Be sure to prepare lost actions from the lost finds cache, as they may prove key to turning the tide of battle.
Clearing the critical engagement "the Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore"
Duty Dialogue
Marsak the Stalwart: The tunnel armor will breach their defenses. It's up to us to keep it in one piece until it's through!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: We'll split into two groups: one to lay siege from the outside, while the other scales the wall! Bajsaljen the Righteous: Our efforts will all be for naught if the tunnel armor fails now. Do whatever it takes to defend it!
Marsak the Stalwart: Keep those helldivers away from the tunnel armor!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: The tunnel armor is under attack! Strike the enemy's core! Bajsaljen the Righteous: It's beginning to crack! Bajsaljen the Righteous: Helldivers! We must guard the tunnel armor from them at all costs!
Marsak the Stalwart: More helldivers, coming in fast! Quickly, get rid of them!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: We're almost there! Just a little longer!
Castrum Centurion: Brionac has fallen!? Quickly, deploy reinforcements!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: Haha! We're through the wall! But we mustn't get complacent. It's not over yet.
Marsak the Stalwart: Storm the castrum! Everyone, forward!
Albeleo the Maleficent: We can't give these durs another ilm. Take no prisoners! Kill every last one of them!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: That's Albeleo. He's a crafty one─watch out for his spells!
Albeleo the Maleficent: Enough of this! Hit them with everything we have!
Marsak the Stalwart: Now's our chance! Attack!
Albedo the Maleficent: They leave me with no choice. The day has come to demonstrate the power of the auracite! Albeleo the Maleficent: Close the barricade! I need more time!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: It seems he's eluded us, for now, at least. We'll need to get past that barricade. Bajsaljen the Righteous: Everyone, split up and search for a way to open it!
Marsak the Stalwart: A number of our countrymen were taken captive. They're likely being held somewhere in the castrum.
Imperial Soldier: Retreat! Retreat! Burn all documents, execute the prisoners! Bajsaljen the Righteous: It's open! Continue to the inner reaches!
Albeleo the Maleficent: Not another step closer! Time to show you what the IVth Legion's made of!
Marsak the Stalwart: Is there no end to them!? Marsak the Stalwart: They've finally run out of soldiers to throw at us, it seems. Forward!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: Someone's there! Wait, is that...?
Albeleo the Maleficent: You fools...what have you done? Gabranth would see Bozja reborn, yet you would bare your steel against him!? Albeleo the Maleficent: By denying the path of righteousness, you have sealed your fate. The heavens have spoken, and they are wroth indeed! Adrammelech: So this is what it is to be a god. Adrammelech: I am Adrammelech... Now know regret, a sinner's recompense.
Bajsaljen the Righteous: Careful now. Something's not right. Be on your guard.
Adrammelech: The crack of lightning, the roar of flame, The rumble of earth, the grip of ice, The rush of water, the howl of wind. At their center, I stand. Alone and omnipotent. Adrammelech: Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair! Adrammelech: May the lightning tear through you! Let your dying screams fill the air! Adrammelech: From your shattered corse, I shall craft a monument to agony!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: To think he would go to such lengths, to surrender himself body and soul to that devil.
Marsak the Stalwart: There's no time to dwell on that. We must press on!

Lyon the Beast King: Come, Dawon! We've a spot of game that wants for hunting.
Duty Dialogue
Lyon the Beast King: I have to hand it to you, I never thought you'd make it this far. I'm going to enjoy this... Lyon the Beast King: Go, Dawon! Your prey awaits! Lyon the Beast King: That's it. Just like I taught you! Lyon the Beast King: Not bad! This calls for something special! Lyon the Beast King: I can't let you lot have all the fun. Why not come over here and let me take a swing? Lyon the Beast King: If you won't make a move, then I will! Lyon the Beast King: Dawon! Are you enjoying this as much as I am? Lyon the Beast King: Nothing like a good scrap to get the blood pumping! Lyon the Beast King: Steady on! No need to get carried away! Lyon the Beast King: Well, as enjoyable as it's been, it's time I called it quits. Lyon the Beast King: Not quite what I had in mind. Dawon, let's try that again! Lyon the Beast King: You'd better not mess it up this time!
Post-battle Cutscene
Lyon the Beast King: Dawon was...defeated? So they've bark and bite, then. Lyon the Beast King: Perhaps I'll take your measure another time. Until we meet again.
Post-duty Pop-ups
Marsak the Stawlart: Alermuc is ours! We've won!
Bajsaljen the Righteous: That Lyon fellow is not one to be trifled with...
Post-duty Cutscene
Marsak: Something troubles you?
Bajsaljen: Their soldiers fell so easily, fled so quickly. This all seems...too easy.
Marsak: We struck before their reinforcements could arrive, as planned, and our soldiers fought valiantly. If you believe our victory came easy, it is because your plan was executed to the letter, sir.
Bajsaljen: Perhaps...
Lilja: >> Forename! << Lilja: Is... <pant> <pant> Is Mikoto...all right?
Marsak: We must split up and search for her.
Misija: >> I don't believe that will be necessary. <<
Bajsaljen: You are outnumbered and outmatched, Misija. Release her, and we may yet be lenient with you.
Misija: I'm not here to bargain, Bajsaljen.
Bajsaljen: Please, Misija. Whatever your grievance may be, I am certain we can find a solution. But you have to let her go. Bajsaljen: We can build a better Bozja, Misija. Together.
Misija: Ever the optimist. And likely the first to go when this is all over. Misija: [Forename]. If you would see her unharmed, come over here. Nice and slowly.
Bajsaljen: (Ready the Blades, and wait for an opening.)
Misija: How I have waited for this moment.
Mikoto: [Forename], I'm so sorry...
Misija: Careful. It would be a pity if I were forced to sully a holy relic such as this. Misija: Would you care to enlighten our friend here as to its history?
Marsak: What is she planning? And what is that queer-looking blade?
Misija: Here. Misija: We are going to take a little trip into the memories of this blade. If you wish to keep Mikoto in one piece, that is.
Lilja: >> Mikoto! <<
Misija: >> Do it! Do it now! <<
Marsak: Misija intends to explore the memories of that blade? Perhaps while she is occupied we can─
Bajsaljen: No. It sounds as though Mikoto and [Forename] will be going with her. Interrupting them may have dire consequences. We must wait for our moment.
Blade Memory
Righteous Blade: Is it done, then?
Forbearing Blade: She does not breathe, and her pulse has ceased.
Beneficent Blade: We were fortunate to catch her unawares. Were we to have incurred the wrath of the blade, she may have destroyed us all.
Righteous Blade: A quick, painless death. Like as not, she did not even realize what happened.
Mikoto: Is this...the memory of the last queen?
Queen Gunnhildr: 'Tis true the blade possessed a terrible power. But was this the only way? Queen Gunnhildr: I thought myself able to control it, to harness its power for good. And yet...it seems I was found wanting. Queen Gunhnildr: At the very least, I shall take heart in the knowledge my people are safe.
Misija: Naught but lies and deceit. They used you, betrayed you, slaughtered you, and dragged your name through the dirt. Now, rise, my queen. Exact your vengeance, erase their accursed legacy from the pages of history!
Mikoto: No! Leave her be!
Memory Ends
Misija: >> Go! Claim what is yours! <<
Stanik: Death to the deceivers... In the name of the queen...
Bajsaljen: >> Retreat! <<
Lilja: >> Mikoto, no! <<
Bajsaljen: >> Marsak! << Bajsaljen: [Forename]! We must withdraw and regroup!
Bwagi: >> All of you, run! <<
Optional
Mikoto: Misija always seemed so kind, and caring. Why did it have to come to this? Mikoto: I would like to believe the Empire has deceived her somehow but... I know it's not that simple. We have to stop her, [Forename].
Lilja: If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it...
Bwagi: Nothing is ever simple with you, is it? I only came here to deliver a message from Lady Fran. Beagi: I don't understand what's going on here, but I don't intend on staying long enough to find out. I suggest you keep your time here brief as well.
Marsak: We were so close. So bloody close... Misija will pay for this.
Speaking with Bajsaljen (Cutscene)
Bajsaljen: So the legends of her power are true, then. We thought them mere faerie tales.
Bwagi: It wouldn't be the first time one turned out to be true. Trust me.
Marsak: But she is the protector of Bozja! Why would the queen do such a thing...?
Mikoto: Misija. She has planted a seed of hatred within the queen.
Lilja: The queen's memory was altered, then?
Mikoto: That hatred seemed to be reaffirmed when the queen looked upon the soldiers bearing the weapons of her guard. Misija was likely anticipating that reaction.
Bajsaljen: Death to the deceivers they said... Gods, what happened all those years ago?
Marsak: Let us not dwell on the past. The Blades must be saved.
Mikoto: I'm afraid the effects of tempering cannot be undone... Or rather, a cure has yet to be found.
Marsak: Damn it all. Was this part of her plan as well?
Bajsaljen: Let us return to Gangos. There is still much for us to discuss.
Marsak: Understood.
Optional
Lilja: Thank goodness Mikoto was okay. No time to relax, though. Not as long as the IVth Legion is still out there up to no good.
Bajsaljen: Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Queen Gunnhildr herself could be turned against us, her blades enslaved by way of foul magicks. Bajsaljen: Now that I think of it, reforging the blades of Gunnhildr was originally proposed by Misija, as was the exploration of memories. Could this have been her aim all along? Bajsaljen: At any rate, something must be done about this new weapon of the Empire. Bajsaljen: If you've nothing else to discuss, I would give this new turn of events some thought.
Speaking with Marsak (Cutscene)
Marsak: To lose the castrum and Gunnhildr's Blades both... A heavy and most unexpected blow. Marsak: It seems that rather than rely on sheer numbers, Menenius had a far more devious scheme in mind all along. And we played right into his hands. Marsak: Thankfully, reinforcements from Dalmasca have recently arrived, and more from the Eastern alliance will soon join our ranks as well. Marsak: Until then, there is naught to do but wait and plan our next move. Now is the time to rest, my friend. You have more than earned it.
Cutscene
Meanwhile, at Castrum Lacus Litore
Lyon rem Helsos: Well, well! Word around here is you summoned a primal, is that right? You certainly know how to make a good first impression, don't you lass? Lyon rem Helsos: I've seen similar from Albeleo and that auracite of his, but a primal summoning? That takes a great deal more aether, doesn't it? And I'd imagine even more to control it.
Menenius sas Lanatus: You have done well. Now, go. Tend to your wounds. Meneius sas Lanatus: That's an order. We have ample time before the Resistance returns, and when they do, I will have need of you again. Understood?
Misija: Yes, sir.
Lyon rem Helsos: Poor thing. If only she could learn to let go, it would be better for everyone. Well, some more than others...
Menenius sas Lanatus: ...What do you want?
Lyon rem Helsos: I trust you're aware of the request from the IIIrd Legion to return to the capital?
Menenius sas Lanatus: Of course I am. But Gabranth is in no position to comply with such orders.
Lyon rem Helsos: I thought as much. Not that it matters. Nerva is just like his father Titus, weak and a coward. Unfit to give orders, let alone lead a nation. Lyon rem Helsos: Having spent time serving under Basch I understand full well your frustration, but the Garlemald you long for is a thing of the past. Lyon rem Helsos: Though I must say, your plans to stall for time have proven quite effective. One can only hope you are as prepared as our dear Noah for what comes next.
Menenius sas Lanatus: What is it you are trying to say?
Lyon rem Helsos: Soldiers with potential like her are not something to be used and discarded like an old boot.
Menenius sas Lanatus: I... We have never considered her to be expendable. She is a valuable asset.
Lyon rem Helsos: For now, at least. Like I always say, death finds a way to weed out the unremarkable and otherwise ill fortuned.
Menenius sas Lanatus: <sigh> I almost envy you and your insouciance. Not that you would ever heed my council on such matters, let alone Gabranth's.
Lyon rem Helsos: Says the man who ignores the council of peers and superiors both to defend Bozja. Lyon rem Helsos: But I really have to hand it to you, enthralling those Resistance soldiers was a fantastic idea. Why bother with persuasion when you have the power to enslave minds? Hahaha!
Menenius sas Lanatus: Flattery ill suits you Lyon, even when false.
Lyon rem Helsos: Perhaps, but dirty tricks like that suit you quite well, don't they? You always were a conniving bastard. A real snake in the grass.
Menenius sas Lanatus: That I shall take as a compliment.
System: You can now exchange Bozjan coins for gear by speaking with the Resistance supplier at Utya's Aegis. System: Gear provided by the Resistance supplier possesses special attributes that are only effective when battling on the Bozjan southern front.
