Persistent Pot

From Final Fantasy XIV Online Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Afflicted with an insatiable appetite for elixirs, these diminutive creatures are technically soulkin, although their habits and life cycle are little understood. As such, alternative theories concerning their nature abound, chief among them the notion that they are in fact a species of voidsent related to the imp. Equally, debates rage regarding their thirst for elixir. Some naturalists posit that the need is nutritional, while others suggest the creatures simply enjoy burdening their interlocutors with unreasonable demands. Perhaps one day science will produce a compelling answer.

Occult Record: Persistent Pot

Persistent Pot is a Soulkin in Occult Crescent.

Persistent Pots are involved in two FATEs in Occult Crescent The Occult Crescent: South Horn. They function very similarly to the Happy Bunnies in The Forbidden Land Eureka The Forbidden Land, Eureka.

Up to 20 players who receive a gold rating in a FATE they are involved in have a chance to receive the Cache Me If You Can buff, which lasts 15 minutes. If more than 20 players qualify, only 20 will be randomly selected for the buff. If the buff timer expires, the Persistent Pot or player is incapacitated, the player leaves the instance or joins a Critical Encounter, the minigame will end prematurely.

When this status is in effect, a Persistent Pot will follow the player and guide them to treasure each time the Magical Elixir key item is used. This item can be used indefinitely by clicking the item icon underneath the duty information UI. Each time the item is used, a location and a rough distance will be indicated as a system message, guiding the player to a hidden treasure coffer. Using the item when in proximity to the treasure coffer will reveal it. (Note: This is not the consumable Occult Elixir item.)

Treasure coffers can be bronze (~50%), silver (~40%), or gold (~10%), in order of increasing rarity. Higher tier coffers provide better rewards.

Once the treasure coffer is opened, there is a small chance (~10%) that the Persistent Pot will offer to repeat the minigame and lead the player to a second hidden coffer, which is guaranteed to be gold. Note that the second bonus chest will always be in the western sections of the South Horn map containing high-level enemies.

A list of treasure coffer locations and rewards can be found here.

FATEs

A pot FATE spawns every 30 minutes and alternates between the two. In a fresh instance, the first pot FATE will spawn after 10 minutes and will always be the north one (Persistent Pots).

Persistent Pots are highly desirable due to their rewards, so it is common for players to ask for respawn timers in an instance. A common format is X:AA N and X:BB S, corresponding to the north FATE (Persistent Fots) and south FATE (Pleading Pots) respectively. For example, X:15 N, X:45 S means that the north FATE will spawn at 15 minutes on the hour for the player's local time, and the south FATE will spawn at 45 minutes on the hour.

Dialogue

System: The persistent pot seems to be thirsty for elixir. Use a magical elixir to slake its thirst and discover the whereabouts of treasure.
Persistent Pot: Gimme an elixir! Gimme one, and I'll make it worth your while!
Persistent Pot: Elixir, my dear ambrosia!
Persistent Pot: Thank you for the elixir! Take care, and good luck!
Persistent Pot: Got any more elixirs? Maybe I can find another treasure if you do...
System: Should you wish to hunt for additional treasure, first open the treasure coffer, then use a magical elixir.
System: The persistent pot seems willing to guide you to another treasure coffer.

Persistent Pot Coffers

To interpret the below maps, check which direction the pot leads you by using the Magical Elixir key item after completing the FATE, then check the compass rose for which color the direction corresponds to. The possible coffer locations correspond to the color. The left map corresponds to Eureka: Notorious Monster Persistent Pots, while the right map corresponds to Eureka: Notorious Monster Pleading Pots.

When the player reaches the coffer location, there is an uncommon chance (~10%) for the pot to offer to repeat the minigame and lead the player to a second treasure coffer, which is guaranteed to be gold. The following map shows possible bonus coffer locations. These are in high-leveled areas where the player should avoid fighting the enemies.

Tips

  • If the pot leads you into a high-leveled area in the South Horn (either the southwest Abandoned Ascent structure or the deeper part of the Crystallized Caverns in the west), using Hide on ninja can allow you to safely sneak past the enemies. If not, keep in mind that the Lv. 24 Crescent Haagenti in the cave have sound aggro, so walk past them to avoid drawing aggro.
