- This NPC is referencing the FFXI mechanic Merit Points. Players level 75 or above can earn "limit points" in place of experience points, with every 10,000 LP granting 1 Merit Point. Merit Points can be spent on a variety of upgrades, such as raising base stats, raising skill level with different weapon types, improving a job's abilities, and unlocking powerful weaponskills. Merit Points can also be used as a currency to enter certain high-end battles, or to purchase endgame upgrade materials.
