While the Garlean military in the provinces was responsible for quelling rebellion and preserving order, those stationed in the capital served a different purpose. The Vigiles Urbani was a peacekeeping force whose duty was to keep the citizenry safe, and Galla oen Longus was one of their lictors. When civil war broke out in the capital, however, the Vigiles Urbani ceased their patrols, leaving the thirty-three-year-old with few options.
While some chose to desert in the confusion, Galla instead joined the Ist Legion at Tertium, and in recognition of her experience and knowledge of the capital's streets was made duplicarius. She now stands watch at the entrance to the underground station, prioritizing the protection and aid of the refugees there, though she laments having little time to read her favorite mystery novels of late.
