Journal
- Y'shtola is intrigued by the legend of Alzadaal III.
- Y'shtola and G'raha Tia ponder the tales of Alzadaal III, wondering what marvels may await them beneath the Bounty. The ever-practical Estinien, on the other hand, has no patience for conjecture and proposes an immediate departure. The time has come to gather your companions and ascertain the truth of Alzadaal's Legacy.
- ※To enlist your companion NPCs for this duty, speak with them near the entrance or access Duty Support via the main menu. Use the Duty Finder if you wish to complete the instance alongside fellow players.
- The path through the island ruins leads you deep beneath the Bounty's waves. After braving a gauntlet of devilish traps and murderous constructs, you are at last free to claim the glittering treasures of Alzadaal's Legacy...
- In the final chamber of the expansive treasure vault, you behold a massive, silk-draped contrivance not unlike a Hannish alchemical furnace. Even as Y'shtola steps forward to investigate, however, Varshahn arrives to beg you keep your distance. After some prompting, the wyrm's youthful simulacrum agrees to divulge to you the purpose for which the mechanism was designed. He dispels the wards and reveals what G'raha identifies as a functioning gateway to the void.
- ※In the event that you leave the instance, you may re-enter by speaking with Matsya in Akyaali.
- G'raha Tia contemplates aloud the difference between planar fissures and voidgates, observing that the phenomenon before you is more akin to the latter owing to the elaborate control mechanism. As he stares into the inky swirls of the portal, the former Exarch waxes nostalgic about old friends and foes...
Dialogue
Optional dialogue
Despite his misgivings, I wager Mehrahd remains in that merchant's employ...
Speak to Y'shtola.
Alzadaal III... I confess I am somewhat embarrassed that the tale of his journey to another world escaped my notice. Could it be more than simple folklore?
And what of the treasure he supposedly brought back? This undersea vault may hold relics from another reflection!
My friends, we should temper our expectations. The map doth promise ruins, but beyond that we know not what we will find.
Not until we find it, aye.
So let us dispense with the conjecture and set sail for the vault.
Alzadaal's Legacy now accessible
End of cutscene.
Optional dialogue
I am aware that this story about an otherworldly journey may be just that—a story. But even the wildest tale often contains a few grains of truth, and that is worth investigating.
One can only spend so many days hunched over a desk before it begins to take its toll. A spot of vigorous exploration is exactly what I needed!
None who enter these ruins come out alive... Well, we shall see about that.
The treasure vault of a satrap will surely be filled with diverse traps and devilish deterrents. Caution is paramount.
Enter Alzadaal's Legacy.
Duty dialogue
The Bhaflau Remnants (area 1)
The map's glyph of passage opens the path forward!
Alzadaal's Qutrub (battle quotes)
Hngh!?
Argh!
Uh!?
Gah!
Hish hish hish!
Shah shah!
Mmm...
Grrrgh!
After boss 1
The teleporter bears you deep beneath the waves...
The Arrapago Remnants (area 2)
Looming Voice
Glyph of passage detected. Confirming bearer's identity...
Unrecognized aetherial signature... Brazen thief! You will proceed no further!
Locating denizens. Opening portal...
The Threshold of Bounty (boss 2)
Turn back, treasure seeker, or this vault will be your tomb.
Your greed will prove your undoing...
The Zhayolm Remnants (area 3)
Secure the treasure.
Slay the looters.
Repel the intruders.
Flee, or be feed for the fish.
Weaver's Warding (boss 3)
Warning. This vault is under my protection. Failure to withdraw will invite chastisement.
Spin and fumble! Stumble and fall!
Control your direction and avoid the spikes!
Leave now, and live.
This is your final warning.
This is your final warning.
A colossal surge of aether inundates the hanging fabric!
Willful trespass confirmed.
You have chosen...death.
You have chosen...death.
All intruders will be slain!

Optional dialogue
Hmmm, a fitting sentinel...
What is this place?
We've found all the treasure, then?
A hidden room within a hidden vault...

The Bhaflau Remnants (area 1)
Time to learn just how authentic our map truly is...
Our adventure begins!
Behold. The lanterns ignite in the glyph's presence.
And thus we take our first step into the unknokwn.
This isle is where we find the vault's entrance?
The glyph works it smagic once more...
An invisibility spell removed, mayhap?
What a peculiar enchantment...
A bridge out of thin air...or cleverly hidden!
Undersea Entrance (boss 1)
My, what dense aether this creature has.
'Tis a rare breed of jellyfish—one with a sting, I imagine.
This gelatinous eyesore bars our path.
After the fight
If only it had been a squid. Imagine all the dried rations...
I'd rather not. Oh look, is that a teleporter?
Might that device be our sought-after "entrance"?
Shall we move on? That looks to be a teleporter.
The Arrapago Remnants (area 2)
Look! We're deep under the Bounty!
Then our map was no fake after all.
This must be the satrap's vault. Such fascinating design...
We've descended quite some distance...
The ocean floor... The map was no fake after all.
I must needs memorize these defenses...
You are really quite serious about this consulting role of yours.
We appear to have angered the vault guardians.
Judging by these defenses, we must be nearing the treasure!
The Threshold of Bounty (boss 2)
Hm. The key guardians appear mechanical in nature.
Please remember to heal whilst you take notes!
It will take more than this to halt our expedition.
A formidable-looking foe. Be on your guard!
After the fight
Attack routines, behavioral patterns... There is much to report.
I only hope the Loporrits do not "misinterpret" the data.
Shall we continue onwards?
Another obstacle overcome! Now on to the next!
The Zhayolm Remnants (area 3)
Aye...this should more than cover the price of the map.
How much did you pay for it, anyway?
Mountains of gold to dazzle the eye. Noted.
I assume we've reached the vault's inner chambers, then?
Secret doors, hidden paths. More elements to consider.
Ere long, you shall be a veritable vault expert!
What other riches might this one vault hold?
There are yet more rooms beyond!?
Weaver's Warding (boss 3)
'Tis wrapped in aether-imbued silks...
No mere adornments, then.
'Tis some manner of arcane automaton...
What is this oversized mammet?
Spin Out (first time)
Those silks... Fashioned by alchemy, I suspect.
How undignified...
What foolishness is this...?
We regroup... and counterattack!
Spin Out (second time)
The enchanted fabric saps our very strength.
Oh, you burn now, weaver.
Why can I not jump free? Too much rich food of late...
Just let...me catch...my breath!
Post-duty cutscene
The party sees a sealed container in the chamber.
What have we here...?
'Tis not unlike a Hannish alchemical furnace in design...
Well, there is one way we might find out...
Stop! You mustn't touch it!
Vrtra... Ah, my apologies. Should I continue calling you "Varshahn"?
You may address me as you wish. My nature is no longer a secret.
Still, this is not the setting I imagined for our reunion. Surely you've not entered these ruins as common looters...?
Would that we could deny your accusations... but I fear you're not far from the truth.
Great Vrtra. Might we beseech thee to explain the nature of this strange contrivance?
It was crafted by our alchemists at my behest. For the purpose of...sealing something away.
What will you say?
Sealing away what, exactly?
I wasn't going to touch it, but you know Y'shtola...
Y'shtola looks at the player menacingly.
You and I will speak later.
The player reacts in fear.
Not the time for frivolity, my friend, not the time...
This "something" of which thou speakest... Might it be some manner of threat?
...
This "something" of which thou speakest... Might it be some manner of threat?
Perhaps I should simply show you.
Varshahn opens the container, revealing a small voidgate.
I have lifted the seal, if only for the moment. By an authority only I possess.
A planar fissure!?
No, my friend...Small though it may be, this is a functioning gate into the void!
End of cutscene.
Optional dialogue
I came here in search of something that might further my research. I did not anticipate a fully functioning voidgate.
Even in the learned halls of Sharlayan, 'tis forbidden to throw wide the gates to the abyss. The peril is far too great...
Can such a tiny portal truly be so dangerous?
I expect you have more questions...
Speak with G'raha Tia.
Voidgates and fissures are much the same thing in practice, in the sense that both allow passage between the Source and the Thirteenth. The difference in terminology refers to the circumstances of their creation.
A fissure is an incidental tear in the fabric between worlds, whereas a voidgate is the product of deliberate action.
I suspect this is the latter, judging by the elaborate mechanism put in place to control it.
To think that our search for material riches would lead to this priceless discovery!
That swirling emptiness... It puts me in mind of old friends, not to mention old foes.
