Welcome

Hello Nickerdeemes, welcome to the Final Fantasy XIV Wiki!

Before you take on your editing journey, please take the time to create your user page. This wiki offers a Community Portal (Accessible from the sidebar menu), which contains a plethora of information to get you started: Help Guide to learn about general wiki editing, Style Manual to learn about overall style, templates and our cool infoboxes, and much more!

The easiest way to communicate with wiki staff and other users is to use our Discord server.

As an anti-spam measure, you will need to make at least one edit prior to editing any pages containing external links or adding external links yourself. For example, try responding to this message by editing this page.

  • Editing a page containing any external links (even if you do not add any yourself) prior to making any other edits may result in an automatic ban. If that happens, please contact wiki staff on our Discord to be unbanned.

If you want a quick start, check out our To-Do List.

Let us know if you need help with editing, page creation or anything else. I hope you have a great time here with us! - Moogle (talk)

Hey

Hey Nickerdeems! Just saw your work and wanted to thank you for collaborating. Your contributions are much appreciated and I'm so very glad to have you along. :) In case you want to take a look at {{NPC infobox}}, it's the new infobox for NPCs and hostile creatures alike. You can see an example here at Gelato page. If you want to dive into more of the new infoboxes, please check here! Again, thank you so much! <3 Valento (talk) 00:20, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the tips, sorry I wasn't using the right infobox. It seems that I need to rename all the images I uploaded to work with that infobox. Is there a way to delete the ones with the old file name after I re-upload the new ones? Nickerdeemes (talk) 01:10, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Hey, that is not a problem! These new infoboxes are very new (I came to this wiki to remodel it not long ago). You can move image files! (or at least I think so). At the top of the image page, click on "More" and see it there's a "Move" option. Thank you! Valento (talk) 01:13, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
It seems that moving the files does not let me change the file extension since it has to be .jpg to work with the infobox. There must be some way to tag the .png files for deletion. Sorry I am pretty new to wiki editing. Nickerdeemes (talk) 01:25, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Oh this is not a problem, my friend. Yeah, the file must be uploaded as jpg. You can try some websites to convert one format to another like this one! :) Valento (talk) 01:31, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Converting is no problem, the duplicate files concern me, unless that is not an issue with the wiki.Nickerdeemes (talk) 01:36, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Don't worry about them. I'll delete later. :D Valento (talk) 03:20, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Hey it's me again. Just a small tip: when you run into two creatures with the same appearance, try to reuse one of the images by setting the image parameter. For example, if you have a Lightning Sprite which shares the same image as Lightning Spark, in the Lightning Spark page have an image parameter setting to "Lightning Sprite.jpg" to reuse the same image for both of them. This is perfectly fine! :) Valento (talk) 02:37, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
If I know that enemies share skins then I will do that but I am simply adding/updating as I hunt them.
I may also start updating quests so that they show up correctly under the new enemy pages, but I don't know how to set things like multiple reward options and if it MSQ vs. sidequest or an unlock quest.Nickerdeemes (talk) 02:43, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Using {{Quest infobox}} is very simple! About required quest, here's a rule of thumb: if the quest is part of a chain, use prev-quest and next-quest (prev-quest acts like "required quest" in this case). For other types of quest (good example is daily beast tribe quests), use req-quest. For rewards, there are a few types you can set: reward1-8, reward-opt1-8, and unlocks. All of them are also explained in the template page and should cover all cases, if any of them doesn't please do let me know! :) Valento (talk) 10:53, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
