Welcome
Hello Valento, welcome to the Final Fantasy XIV Wiki!
Before you take on your editing journey, please take the time to create your user page. This wiki offers a Community Portal (Accessible from the sidebar menu), which contains a plethora of information to get you started: Help Guide to learn about general wiki editing, Style Manual to learn about overall style, templates and our cool infoboxes, and much more!
The easiest way to communicate with wiki staff and other users is to use our Discord server.
As an anti-spam measure, you will need to make at least one edit prior to editing any pages containing external links or adding external links yourself. For example, try responding to this message by editing this page.
- Editing a page containing any external links (even if you do not add any yourself) prior to making any other edits may result in an automatic ban. If that happens, please contact wiki staff on our Discord to be unbanned.
If you want a quick start, check out our To-Do List.
Let us know if you need help with editing, page creation or anything else. I hope you have a great time here with us! - Moogle (talk)

User CSS
User CSS is now enabled. Let me know if it works. -Moogle (talk) 15:07, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Page Forms
Page Forms is up! Making something cool with it?-Moogle (talk) 04:49, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, nothing apparent as I'm doing changes only viewable from my account but it's getting cool. :) Valento (talk) 05:40, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Variables and ParserFunctions
Variables and ParserFunctions are enabled. About Common.css, you can tell us what you need and we'll add it in. -Moogle (talk) 17:19, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Roger! Copy the content from here and paste at the bottom of common.css. I might need various iterations on this, though. Thank you! Valento (talk) 17:27, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Updates
Hello Valento, We've updated MediaWiki:Common.js, MediaWiki:CollapsibleTables.js and MediaWiki:Common.css. We've also enabled $wgAllowUserJs, you can tryout various javascripts. Template:Class navbar looks great and let us know if everything works right. - Moogle (talk) 21:01, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- So far so good! I have plans for the front-page at some point (if you want ofc). I found gamerescape to be totally contrary layout of what a wiki should look like. Right, it seems you copied over the same reference to the script here. Change "User:Valento/CollapsibleTables.js" to "MediaWiki:CollapsibleTables.js". Thanks! :) Valento (talk) 21:05, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- I've fixed MediaWiki:Common.js. Thank you for all of your awesome work. I'm really happy that you liked the general layout of the wiki lol, even though it's a bit "minimalistic". It would be great if you can rejuvenate the front page. Also, I've added ==Introduction== to the top of Class to create a toggle on mobile devices. Please take a look at Class page on a smartphone or here. Some CSS might be needed on Mediawiki:Mobile.css. -Moogle (talk) 05:18, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
Requests
Citation extension is installed. Not sure why collapsible tables isn't working. There is nothing before <?php and we only use vi to edit LocalSettings.php.

Are you talking about this kind of collapsible table? it works for me -Moogle (talk) 06:29, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
- It's tied to the STDT template, I copied over the script from another wiki to fit into the pretty-styled STDT tables, but still not working. Valento (talk) 12:07, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
New Front Page
The Guild Wars 2 Wiki is really well crafted. We'll definitely take notes and mimic a lot of their features. Glad to hear that you've worked on it and we are lucky to have you. I'll definitely help you with organizing and adding/changing stuff on the new front page. And don't worry about your English, it's perfect, I can't differentiate it from a native speaker. - Moogle (talk) 08:59, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
- Damn, I should've moved to USA. Oh well, another time. :D Valento (talk) 12:09, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
CSS from GW2
I noticed you said
(do not worry, I'm just using css from there so no copyright infringement).
....that's a very dangerous claim to make. Depending on their license, even css code can be considered being under copyright and at a bare minimum, you should give proper credit saying where the code came from. I know for a fact that during the 1.x days of XIV, some contributors on the BG Wiki tried to copy some of the Gamer Escape Wiki's information (not template code or css code, but the actual item information and written text from like strategies), and they got into a big old fight about it. Probably best to avoid any kind of drama with that! Throwaway1234 (talk) 17:37, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Also, in regards to the gamerescape wiki and their "totally contrary layout." If you use a different skin than the default one it looks almost identical to this site. The vector skin is a default included skin in all mediawiki installations, so something like Dravanian Spring Water is improved from their default look! Throwaway1234 (talk) 17:45, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Fair warning. As far as my understanding goes, I will indeed have to atribute them the rights as per GNU license (see here), and that's about it. Really. Regarding gamerescape, they do not match what I intend for this wiki, it's more than just skin and that will be clear in the future. Thanks for the input. Valento (talk) 18:18, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- There we go, yeah that GNU attribution should work just fine. Can't wait to see the rest of your work on this site! Seeing what you've added so far, I can imagine how you're gonna keep going :D Throwaway1234 (talk) 19:29, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Template
I've protected Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Wiki:General disclaimer and added information to MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning. Additionally, I've moved Template:Item to Template:Item-B1 and changed all the corresponding item pages from {{Item to {{Item-B1. I've also added CSS from MediaWiki:Common.css to MediaWiki:Mobile.css so tables on Class and Template:Quest infobox appear styled on phones and tablets -Moogle (talk) 07:40, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
- Please continue with your plans on Template:Item and Template:Quest infobox. The main concern I have is that I need to make sure that the new infobox styles look nice on phones and tablets. For example the Quest infobox looks pretty good on mobile already (https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=User:Moogle/Sandbox&mobileaction=toggle_view_mobile). I tweaked Mobile.css to center the infobox on mobile. I will continue to tweak it to improve how it looks on mobile. Free feel to let me know if you have any suggestions. -Moogle (talk) 08:54, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll tweak item template now! It should be a seamless transition when SMW hits the wiki, but I'm making sure looks are good. While I understand a bit of css I'm not very good with responsive css, so your edits on mobile will probably be better than mine. >.< Valento (talk) 11:36, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
- No prob. Lol I'm not too great with that either but it's not really responsible CSS. Desktop and Mobile versions of the site take CSS from different pages. MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Vector.css apply only to the desktop version of the site while MediaWiki:Mobile.css applies only to the mobile version of the site. Mobile.css has not effect on desktop version and vice versa. -Moogle (talk) 05:49, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

SMW and More
Hey Valento, we love your work and have just made you admin. Welcome to the FFXIV Wiki family! You can now among other things edit MediaWiki:Common.css, MediaWiki:Vector.css and MediaWiki:Mobile.css. You can also batch change pages with Special:ReplaceText. Just be careful with it when you use it. I've installed Semantic Mediawiki because we can definitely see the benefits of having it. I'm not too familiar with it and have will have questions that require your expertise. When you have time, send me an email at [email protected]. - Moogle (talk) 03:46, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oh my... I'll report any change I do, and I'll always ask assistance to more advanced server stuff. I'm so very afraid of screwing things and having a backup before massive changes is better safe than sorry. Thank you! (I'll send an e-mail so we can talk). Valento (talk) 12:13, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
Hey
I'm all for updating the look of the wiki. A lot of pages of similar content don't share the same formatting so it would be great to work towards a more unified look. With the expansion hitting I will be primarily updating/adding information. Once the bulk of that is in if there is a new layout/format template for me to use I could help roll it out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ThreePhaseLoad (talk • contribs).
MSQ Page Thoughts
I've been thinking about how we can better incorporate the features of the old MSQ page into the new one, so as to make it a bit more accessible for those who liked the old page.
One of the requests I've seen the most after the change is to add numbering to the quests (so the first quest is 1, second is 2...) to better keep track and see how many quests are left for those still going through the story. In addition, I think maybe we should remove the rewards (but keep the unlocks) on the main page, for the sake of clutter and page length. The rewards can stay on the smaller "era" pages (e.g. Seventh Umbral Era, Stormblood Main Scenario Quests, etc.) so the detail can remain there but the main page doesn't look so overwhelming. This would require a little more work on your end to add the numbering to the quest list template, however. Thoughts? RequiemTempest (talk) 15:39, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
Move request question
Hi I looked for a move request template but it doesn't look like one has been created yet, I've come across 3 pages that I think should be moved, how should I go about requesting them to be moved? Tweeky (talk) 17:03, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- Just created this template for moving pages. It hints to admins which pages are candidates for moving, and works similarly to its delete counterpart. Valento (talk) 19:13, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
