  • Ruvoll Ja is brimming with ambition.
    • ※The difficulty of this quest will be synced to your current level.
  • Ruvoll Ja's hopes for Mamook's horticultural prospects find him and Anggir considering how to simulate natural light. The recreation of a facility like Labyrinthos would be impractical, but other farmers have learned to prosper in harsh environs─namely those of Yyupye's Halo in Heritage Found. Hoping to find inspiration from their methods, Ruvoll Ja and Anggir accompany you to the northern reaches of Xak Tural.
    • ※Please note that the difficulty of this quest has been synced to your current level. Furthermore, you may not proceed with a class or job that is different from when you accepted this quest.
  • Ruvoll Ja and Anggir are both shocked by their surroundings, oppressed by heavy storm clouds. Their interest in the foreign contraptions that light the circular garden beds, however, is undeniable, and they would begin gathering more information at once.
  • You accompany Ruvoll Ja and Anggir around Yyupye's Halo and ask the farmers about their practices. Hopefully something you learn here will be of use to Gok Golma.
    • ※You must be accompanied by Ruvoll Ja and Anggir to complete this task. Speak with them again should you become separated.
  • Both your companions are intrigued and excited by what they have learned, but recognize that their prolonged presence might be an imposition to the farmers at work. The three of you drift a ways off to continue your conversation.
  • While not all of what you learned at Yyupye's Halo is applicable to Gok Golma, using Boonewa magicks to simulate natural light is considered as a possibility. You escort your companions back to the Ja Tiika Heartland to speak with one such Boonewa, Kageel Ja.
  • Kageel Ja is receptive to your idea but thinks it better to ask a more accomplished mage than he─namely, the Autarch of Mamook himself. Ruvoll Ja nervously consults with Zereel Ja, who defies expectation and agrees to help. He requires vessels replete with energy, however, which Ruvoll Ja eagerly promises to supply.
  • Of course, you are the one left to procure the supplies for said vessels, but such is a simple task for a gatherer of your standing. You set out into the forest for aetherically potent materials.
  • The Boonewa cast their magicks and, like a miracle, illuminate the gainery. Under this simulated natural light, an even greater selection of crops may flourish in Gok Golma. Soon, the people of Mamook will have produce enough to create any dish─perhaps even one that changes the course of Yak T'el's fate, as xibruq pibil did so many years ago...

Dialogue

Accepting the quest

Ruvoll Ja: Just look at our crop stores, [Forename]! Mamook now has choice when it comes to food! We never could have seen this day if not for your help.

Ruvoll Ja: But we can still do better. More can flourish yet, I just know it!

Anggir: As passionate as always, I see. While I wish I could agree with you, I'm afraid we may be reaching the extent of our crop variation.

Anggir: Currently, this forest restricts us in two ways: one, the meteorites' unique aether, and two, a distinct lack of natural sunlight. Crops that can grow under both these conditions are, unfortunately, limited.

Anggir: Removing even one of those restrictions would certainly increase our options─assuming such a feat were possible, of course.

Ruvoll Ja: We've considered how to let sunlight in before, but it's not as easy as felling a tree or two.

Anggir: If only we could reference another locale that cultivates flora in near-total darkness...

Player Options: What will you say?

  1. Like Heritage Found?
  2. Like Labyrinthos?

Dialogue for option 2

Anggir: It's true that Labyrinthos was built underground, but the sheer amount of resources required for its construction dwarfs what we can afford to do here. Perhaps there's another place we can use as a reference...

Dialogue for option 1

Ruvoll Ja: That's right... When I was in Tuliyollal, I heard about what happened in Yyasulani. They say the dome is rife with lightning energies and an endless night lingers over the land.

Anggir: Fascinating. And yet they successfully farm there?

Ruvoll Ja: Yyupye's Halo, you say? I have a permit to visit Xak Tural... Why don't we go and see it for ourselves?

Anggir: I also possess the requisite permissions, so I can join you. If we compare the data of this forest to that of Yyupye's Halo, we may well find a clue relevant to our current conundrum.

Ruvoll Ja: It'll be a long journey, so we haven't a moment to lose. Lead the way, [Forename]!

Chatting with Anggir

Anggir: Thank you for escorting us.

Speaking with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: To think the sun once shone so brightly here... It's a different sort of darkness than that of the Ja Tiika Heartland.

Anggir: With lightning-aspected aether this dense in the atmosphere, it's little wonder that thick thunderclouds obscure the sky as they do.

Ruvoll Ja: I could probably stand in awe of this place all night, but we have a duty to fulfill. We need to ask the residents here about their farming techniques.

Ruvoll Ja: We're ready when you are, so just lead the way!

Speaking with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: Let's have a look around.

Part Ways

Ruvoll Ja: Did something come up? That's fine, we'll be waiting by the entrance when you're done.

Anggir: Did you have other business? We shall wait for you by the entrance, so come and find us when you're finished.

Ruvoll Ja: All right, let's get going.

Anggir: Welcome back. Shall we?

Escort: Small talk with Anggir

Anggir: The infrastructure here is unlike Sharlayan, Garlean, or even Allagan technologies. I must take great care in my study of this place...

Escort: Small talk with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: In Tuliyollal, I remember once sharing a table with a Shetona from Yyasulani. I can't imagine how they must feel to see their homeland so transformed...

Escort: Examining the cylindrical machine

Ruvoll Ja: So these towers act as an artificial sun for their plants...

Anggir: Far smaller than what we have in Labyrinthos, but no less effective for the growth of crops.

Escort: Re-examining the cylindrical machine

Narrator: Light pours onto the garden beds from the tower, which seems to serve as an artificial sun.

Escort: Speaking with a calculating farmer

Calculating Farmer: Well, as you can see, we grow our crops in circles at Yyupye's Halo.

Calculating Farmer: The reason is simple─this contraption converts lightning-aspected energy to create an ideal environment for our crops, from humidity and lighting to temperature and soil quality.

Calculating Farmer: ...Hang on, I've seen you before! With Shaloaci, no? She's away on business at the moment, but I'll let her know you dropped by. She'll be sorry to have missed you.

Escort: Chatting with the calculating farmer

Calculating Farmer: To us, it's only natural that our beds are round, but developing this style of agriculture was the result of trial and error.

Escort: Speaking with a watchful farmer

Watchful Farmer: Our little farm has caught your fancy? I can hardly blame you─keeping crops alive in environs such as these is no small feat, if I do say so myself.

Watchful Farmer: We use electrope equipment to supply our plants with the nutrients and light they require. The key to good gardening is understanding the unique needs of each species, after all.

Escort: Chatting with the watchful farmer

Watchful Farmer: The lightning may impede our farmwork, but it also energizes our towers. Both a blessing and a curse, you might say.

After all information gathered

Ruvoll Ja: These folks have worked hard to achieve the impossible. I'm all the more inspired to do the same!

Ruvoll Ja: That said, we'll be nothing but a bother if we stand around here. Let's regroup and discuss our next steps.

Speaking with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: I thought I'd learned a decent amount about the outside world after leaving Mamook, but I still don't know the half of it, do I...

Ruvoll Ja: Thanks for guiding us here. This trip was well worth it.

Anggir: Indeed. We can neither develop such infrastructure overnight, nor can we discount the differences between Heritage Found and the Ja Tiika Heartland...

Anggir: However, the knowledge that aspected aether may be converted into something equivalent to natural light is invaluable. We may not possess this “electrope,” but perhaps magicks can achieve a similar effect?

Ruvoll Ja: The Boonewa are peerless when it comes to magic! Let's head back and ask Kageel Ja. He's probably missing us about now anyway.

Chatting with Anggir

Anggir: If we could truly create artificial sunlight... Oh, the possibilities!

Speaking with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: Hold on a moment while I fetch Kageel Ja.

Kageel Ja: Ruvoll Ja explained your idea... If you're looking to achieve the impossible with magicks, shouldn't you speak with our mightiest practitioner instead?

Ruvoll Ja: You don't mean...the Autarch!?

Kageel Ja: He's different now. And he wants the best for this gainery, same as anyone. I'm sure he'd help, if you asked.

Ruvoll Ja: ...But I left. Surely I'm little more than a traitor in his eyes.

Player Options: What will you say?

  1. He's changed his ways, I promise.
  2. Then you'll just have to win him over.

Dialogue for option 1 Ruvoll Ja: You were instrumental in freeing Mamook from the shackles of blessed siblings, so I guess you'd know better than most...

Dialogue for option 2 Ruvoll Ja: You're right. This is for Gok Golma─for Mamook.

Anggir: Then if your mind is made up, shall we request an audience?

Zereel Ja: ...Masterful work.

Ruvoll Ja: Autarch!

Zereel Ja: Just the other day, my wife brought me a sample from your harvest. I could hardly believe how flavorful it was.

Anggir: Thank you. It is an honor to receive such kind words.

Zereel Ja: I hear that you require a Boonewa's expertise?

Ruvoll Ja: Y-Yes! We were hoping to create light here. With magic. So we can grow an even wider variety of crops!

Anggir: We made a journey to Yyasulani by [Forename] 's guidance and studied the agricultural techniques of Heritage Found.

Anggir: The harsh climate there is constantly obscured by dark clouds. Yet by way of special devices, the farmers create artificial sunlight enough to maintain healthy beds of crops.

Kageel Ja: Instead of devices, we thought Boonewa magicks might achieve something similar. Do you think it possible, Autarch?

Zereel Ja: Weaving illusions into reality is indeed possible for us. But you require more than simple “light,” no?

Anggir: It is as you say. The light in question must deliver properties necessary for our plants' nutrition and at appropriate levels.

Anggir: I am happy to explain in detail if you believe such a feat can be achieved.

Zereel Ja: ...It can. The magicks will require eligible vessels, however. Created from material replete with energy.

Ruvoll Ja: Understood! We'll procure whatever you need!

Speaking with Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: He's cooperating... The Autarch really has changed.

Ruvoll Ja: Anyway, we need to gather materials for those vessels. The Autarch said rich in energy, so I know just the thing!

Ruvoll Ja:

  • (for Miner) Chunks of meteorite harvested from Cenote Jayunja. You can't get more concentrated energy than that.
  • (for Botanist) Bark from trees of living light in Cenote Jayunja. You can't get more concentrated energy than that.
  • (for Fisher) Meteorfish from Cenote Jayunja. You can't get more concentrated energy than that. They'll bite easily enough if you use golden stonefly nymphs.

Ruvoll Ja: This all comes down to you, [Forename]─bring us what we need for the vessels and we'll take care of the rest!

Turning in the items to Ruvoll Ja

Ruvoll Ja: Did you find what we need for the vessels?

Ruvoll Ja: Perfect! This is good, concentrated energy! I'll bring it to the Autarch, and we'll get started right away.

Anggir: Such remarkable magicks... These lights illuminate our gainery as though it were midday.

Anggir: And you may have noticed Gok Golma's latest addition. I don't know how Ruvoll Ja and the others found time to prepare a kitchen, but it makes readying our yields for consumption easier than ever.

Ruvoll Ja: Admiring the kitchen, are you? One day, it'll make some legendary dishes─even one to rival xibruq pibil!

Anggir: An admirable dream. With passion like yours, I'm certain it shall come true.

Ruvoll Ja: If we can make a meal, we can share a meal. Just like Gulool Ja Ja did on that battlefield, to end an endless war...

Ruvoll Ja: Creating a dish that brings our Iq Br'aax neighbors to the table again...this is my next hope for Gok Golma. I hope we become living proof that Mamook has changed for the better!

System: As the gainery flourishes, so too do Ruvoll Ja's dreams for the future of his homeland. Whether Mamook will prove herself capable of restoring relations with the people of Iq Br'aax, however, remains to be seen...
