Journal
- Fahrafahr appears anxious to get your attention.
※Please note that the difficulty of this quest has been synced to your current level. Furthermore, you may not proceed with a class or job that is different from when you accepted this quest. - With the kirkahryar finally complete, the smell of corn liquor wafts through the mountain pass, and Fahrafahr informs you that the scent has drawn snow spirits to the area. She is determined to go forward with the Pact immediately, and honors you with the task of getting a barrel of the libation from the kirkahryar house and placing it on the Breathless Altar.
※Please note that you may not proceed with a class or job that is different from when you accepted this quest. - The eager brewer happily provides you with a jar of kirkahryar, and laments that he cannot see the Pact for himself. Taking the heavy container in hand, you begin your journey to the Breathless Altar, which you see is located at the top of a lengthy set of stairs.
- As the ritual begins, one of the larger snow spirits approaches and indulges in the offering of kirkahryar. After a few tense moments, the spirit begins to speak in a calm voice. Relief at this development is short lived, however, as the spirit is quick to condemn Dartorgor and all the other Yok Huy for having the temerity to abandon them through death. The spirits depart before listening to reason, and you turn to Fahrafahr to see how she is handling this new development.
- Fahrafahr admits that something must be done before the spirits once again succumb to rage. She asks you to follow her to Dartorgor's living sepulchre so you may share thoughts on potential solutions to this new challenge.
- You and Fahrafahr discuss how best to make the spirits understand the Yok Huy view on life and death and settle upon the idea of building a living sepulchre to immortalize the bond between the snow spirits and Yok Huy. It falls upon you to convince the spirits to return to the altar, and Fahrafahr suggests telling them that the frostblooms have blossomed at the site. The Yok Huy sets to work on getting the sepulchre built as quickly as possible, and you head towards Worqor Zormor with your eyes peeled for powdery white creatures.
- The snow spirits are receptive to your invitation, and while they mourn Dartorgor's absence, the appeal of viewing flowers in bloom seems to perk them up. With an audience for the unveiling of the sepulchre secured, you return to Shelter to report your success to Fahrafahr.
- Fahrafahr is pleased at your news, but it seems there is a problem with the sepulchre that she would recruit your aid in solving. While the stone monuments are usually engraved with symbols which tell the stories of their subject, Fahrafahr is aware that the spirits likely cannot read them. She hopes to imbue the sepulchres with magical energy that will convey the sentiments of the sepulchre in a way the spirits can grasp, and asks you to construct materials that will help achieve that end.
- With the final touches you provide, the Yok Huy artisans complete the living sepulchre and Fahrafahr invites you to its unveiling. With the aid of the magic imbued in the stone, the spirits come to an understanding that friends both old and new will be there to play with them for a long time to come. Overcome with joy, the spirits invite all present to frolic among the snowdrifts, marking the first celebration of a friendship given warmth anew.
Dialogue
Accepting the quest
Fahrafahr: Forename, Forename! There you are, and just in time! Fahrafahr: We have finally finished our first batch of kirkahryar, and it seems the scent has attracted the snow spirits! Fahrafahr: If we can get them to approach the altar, we can finally perform the Pact! Fahrafahr: I wish to begin preparations right away, but I require your aid in a small matter. Will you help us? Fahrafahr: I simply need you to take a jar of kirkahryar and place it on the altar. That should draw the spirits near, and then we can begin the ritual!
Chatting with Fahrafahr before the altar
Fahrafahr: I will begin preparations for the ritual. Once you bring the kirkahryar to the altar, we can begin!
Speaking with the Eager Brewer
Eager Brewer: The spirits are here, you say? Well, if you need kirkahryar for the ritual, I certainly have enough barrels of the stuff. Eager Brewer: As much as I would like to see the offering for myself, too many of us may scare the spirits off, so I leave it in your and Fahrafahr's capable hands.
Chatting with the Eager Brewer
Eager Brewer: You must promise to come back and tell me how it was. For my part, I will pray the spirits return to their playful nature.
Placing the kirkahryar upon the altar
Fahrafahr: The spirits should be close. Now that the kirkahryar is in its rightful place, we need only wait. It might be best if we hide, though... How about over there?
Ryoqor Terteh: Ur...gh... Fire in heart...fades...
Fahrafahr: It spoke! They accepted the offering! Fahrafahr: Dartorgor told me about you, you know. She taught me that kirkahryar would quell the rage that sometimes grows within you. I only hope we can speak as friends once more.
Ryoqor Terteh: Dartorgor...? But, she is not here now? How boring. We hate her...
Fahrafahr: Hate...? What do you mean? Was Dartorgor not a dear friend? Did you not live here together in peace?
Ryoqor Terteh: Dartorgor abandons us! She breaks her promise to look at the blooming flowers together! Ryoqor Terteh: We wait for her, even as flowers wilt. Dartorgor never returns!
Fahrafahr: I have something I must share with you. Dartorgor's body is gone...
Ryoqor Terteh: Gone? What do you mean? We do not understand!
Fahrafahr: The spirits return on each snowy day. They do not pass from this world, nor have any concept of life and death. Fahrafahr: So they believe Dartorgor abandoned them. That she broke her promise to stay with them. Fahrafahr: And Dartorgor was not the first. The spirits watched as their friends went away, until none remained. They endured loss after loss...
Ryoqor Terteh: You, too, will abandon us...with no good-byes. We will not play with you... Ryoqor Terteh: Your kind are no friends...
Fahrafahr: W-Wait!
Speaking with Fahrafahr
Fahrafahr: Well, at least Ryoqor Terteh was composed enough to speak... Fahrafahr: A small step forward, but its parting words were far from encouraging. Given the strength of their bond with Dartorgor, I can only imagine how betrayed they must feel at her departure. Fahrafahr: If they come to hate us Yok Huy, they will shun the Pact as well. Then it will be but a matter of time until they rage again─or worse. Fahrafahr: We must think of a solution before that happens. Do you mind coming with me to Dartorgor's sepulchre so we can discuss the matter?
Speaking again with Fahrafahr
Fahrafahr: The eternal nature of the spirits means they view things quite differently from us. Their bodies are always revived, no matter what damage it may suffer. Fahrafahr: So even if I were to form a strong bond with them, they would only experience the same pain again when my own body passed. Fahrafahr: There must be a way to make them understand, yet no answers come to me. I tried to imagine what Dartorgor might do, but still...nothing. Fahrafahr: Do you have any ideas, Forename? This is as much for the sake of the spirits as it is for us, so even the smallest bit of advice would be much appreciated.
Q: What will you say?
> Remind me what the Yok Huy believe about death, again? > Can we not leave a physical reminder?
< Remind me what the Yok Huy believe about death, again? >
Fahrafahr: Of course... So long as we are remembered, we yet live. Just as Dartorgor yet lives inside me.
< Can we not leave a physical reminder? >
Fahrafahr: You mean like the living sepulchres? Yes... So long as we are remembered, we yet live. Just as Dartorgor yet lives inside me.
Fahrafahr: But how can we make the spirits understand something so foreign to their own experience? Fahrafahr: We cherish the sepulchres as a symbol of the connection between memory and life. Fahrafahr: Yet even if the spirits cannot grasp that concept, if we were to explain their purpose in simpler terms─that the sepulchres immortalize precious memories of our time together─then perhaps they will understand. Fahrafahr: A sepulchre dedicated to the spirits would show them that even when I am gone, our bond will live on. That me, Dartorgor, and all the other Yok Huy who frolic in the snow will be with them forever! Fahrafahr: Yet even if we made such a thing, the sepulchre would have no meaning if the spirits were unwilling to see it. Fahrafahr: Forename, could you invite them to come view the frostblooms? I believe such an invitation will be too tantalizing for them to resist. Fahrafahr: I shall see to it that both the flowers and sepulchre are ready for their arrival, but I may need your help somewhere along the way. Fahrafahr: When the spirits are calm, they tend to wander. I remember they were often sighted on the road to Worqor Zormor─tell a few about the frostblooms, and word is sure to spread.
Speaking with the spirits
Rorrloh Teh: The flowers...bloom? Rorrloh Teh: Oh joy! But where is Dartorgor? We want to see her. We want to see flowers with her!
Rorrloh Teh: Dartorgor promises to see flowers with us! Rorrloh Teh: Maybe...Dartorgor comes? Maybe this time...and if Dartorgor comes, we will go!
System: There are no more spirits in sight. Return to Fahrafahr and inform her of your success.
Speaking with Fahrafahr
Fahrafahr: Thank you for speaking with the spirits. I only hope the sepulchre has its intended effect.
Fahrafahr: Speaking of which, I believe we shall require your aid in that regard. You see, we realize the spirits likely cannot read our inscriptions, which would quite defeat the purpose of the sepulchre.
Fahrafahr: Yet if they were engraved with chisels imbued with magic energies, we believe the spirits would grasp their intended meaning. You can take care of that, right?
Fahrafahr: Yet if they were polished by tools imbued with magic energies, we believe the spirits would grasp their intended meaning. You can take care of that, right?
Fahrafahr: Yet if they were painted by a substance imbued with magic energies, we believe the spirits would grasp their intended meaning. You can take care of that, right?
Fahrafahr: If you could craft what we require, we would be in your debt. Here, these materials should be enough for now, but if you perchance run out, Wurfurtar can replenish your supplies.
Chatting with Fahrafahr
Fahrafahr: The future of the Hands─and of Worlar's Echo itself─depends on our success here, but I know you require no additional motivation to produce your best work. Remember that Wurfurtar stands ready with more supplies if you require them.
Chatting with Wurfurtar
Wurfurtar: The spirits' moods shift directions more often than a flake in a snowstorm, don't they? Luckily my store of supplies is something you can always rely upon to be full.
Fetching ingredients from Wurfurtar
Wurfurtar: If it's supplies you need, I have you covered. Fahrafahr's told me how important this task is, so come back as many times as you need!
Turning in the quest
Fahrafahr: Have you finished? This may be your most important contribution yet, so I am anxious to see the finished product. Fahrafahr: Ah, I see my concern was misplaced. Impressive as always, Forename! With these we can get the sepulchre ready for the spirits right away. Fahrafahr: Soon they shall know just how much we value their companionship. For all you have done, Forename, I would extend a personal invitation to the unveiling of the sepulchre and the frostblooms.
Ryoqor Terteh: We remember this one. They say the flowers bloom. Dartorgor makes that promise, too... Ryoqor Terteh: Dartorgor...who is not here. Where does she go? Why does she leave us?
Fahrafahr: Dartorgor is with you, even now! Fahrafahr: Before we see the flowers, there is something I would show you. Follow me, please.
Ryoqor Terteh: What is this...?
Fahrafahr: We Yok Huy call this a living sepulchre. On them we carve the stories of our lives lived while we walked the earth. Fahrafahr: This one belongs to Dartorgor. On it are recorded the days spent frolicking with you and the other spirits. Fahrafahr: When the Yok Huy─ No, when all peoples reach the end of their lifespan, they must leave their bodies behind. Fahrafahr: Yet so long as we have these sepulchres, the lives they lived will never be forgotten. The happy times, the joyous moments...they will last forever.
Ryoqor Terteh: Your words... We do not understand. You say Dartorgor is here, but she is not. That is no comfort...
Fahrafahr: There is something else I would show you. It is at the altar. Fahrafahr: This, too, is a living sepulchre. One we recently made, which is dedicated to you and yours. Fahrafahr: At the moment, we have only recorded your time spent with Dartorgor. From this day forward, though, we hope to add many more stories of days spent in peace and playfulness. Fahrafahr: We are not like the spirits─the time comes for all of us when we must leave this world. Fahrafahr: Yet even when I am gone, this will remain. And those who come after me will carve their memories upon this stone as well. Their memories of their time with you. Fahrafahr: So there is no need to be lonely any longer. We will be here with you always─just like Dartorgor.
Ryoqor Terteh: We will not be alone? Never again? Ryoqor Terteh: Yes, and neither will I. Dartorgor lives on still, within me. Ryoqor Terteh: And when my body passes from this world, Dartorgor and I will live on within you. Within you, and within those who carry on the Pact after us.
Fahrafahr: And now, I know you were promised flowers. Let us view them together─the story of that moment shall be the next to be inscribed on the sepulchre.
Ryoqor Terteh: They are...beautiful. Ryoqor Terteh: But Dartorgor is not here...
Voice: The flowers are so pretty, aren't they? We can see them together every time they bloom.
Ryoqor Terteh: Dartorgor...? Ryoqor Terteh: Dartorgor comes... Dartorgor remembers her promise. Remembers us. Ryoqor Terteh: Now we play! Play with our new friends!
