The Storm Surge is the name given to the war that caused a calamitous event on the Ninth. It was triggered by the shift of the star's aether towards lightning.
About
The aether of the star anomalously shifted towards lightning, causing ever increasing rainy seasons with more potent lighting energy. With no sunlight, crops and livestock to wither. Desperate to find a solution, an ore was discovered which seemingly was manifested due to the aetheric imbalance - Electrope. This ore had the ability to absorb and contain lightning, and with etching arcane circuits onto it, the stored energy could be converted into any other element. This technique was derived from the knowledge of the Milalla.
With this potent ability, electrope became an element being used in many ways - but at the beginning, it was a scarce ressource. Trying to secure sufficient reserves, nations started to fight which soon escalated into war. The conflict raged for around 450 years, until in an act of madness, the nation of Lindblum deployed a weapon that devasted the star's aetheric balance and triggered a calamity. It brought nearly the entire world to destruction, with the Kingdom of Alexandria barely intact[1].
Parts of the Storm Surge can be witnessed in Alexandria and The Meso Terminal.
