Nibirun

From Final Fantasy XIV Online Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Nibirun are a race of tall, humanoid people clad in white robes and golden masks who are now believed to be technically extinct. They hailed from a world featured within The Dead Ends, a dungeon from the Endwalker Expansion of Final Fantasy XIV. The Nibirun were known to have eliminated disease and all forms of strife upon their world and lived in bliss. Due to the events depicted in the Dead Ends, their star is presumably now devoid of their species.

  • Golden Wings, butterfly-like creatures that served as extensions of Ra-la's power.

History

At some point prior to the Meteia being sent on their mission, the Nibirun were able to eliminate all disease and strife on their planet, leaving them living in a stagnant utopia. However, this stagnation did not occur to them initially, and they were content with simply living. When Meteion came and asked her question, the Nibirun contemplated the nature of their existence for the first time, and spiraled into despair searching for an answer to give their visitor. Unable to find an answer, the Nibirun fell into nihilism, believing that life has no meaning at all, and created Ra-la to ease them out of the shackles of life and into death.

Additional Notes

  • The appearance and society of the Nibirun are extremely similar to that of Etheirys's Ancients, and it's likely that Meteion chose their star for the Dead Ends to show how the Ancients' civilization would have ended up had the Final Days not occurred.
