King Lalawefu Sil Tatawefu ascended to the throne of Sil'dih in 1159 of the Sixth Astral Era, and inherited the war between his nation and Ul'dah. During his reign, he increased taxes in order to begin an economic reform. For several decades, Sil'dih had been suffering a great economic decline at the hands of the war while Ul'dah had grown to be a mercantile force. With his reform, he managed to bring life back to the economy, which meant a stronger effort on the warfront.

When a crippling drought hit Thanalan, he secured a reliable source of water for his people and received the moniker the King of Springs. This was a twofold strategy, as the water source he had secured came from the water source used by Ul'dah, which crippled the city-state for a time. However, Ul'dah would soon retaliate.

Ul'dah began attacking Sil'dih several times in succession in retaliation to the actions of Lalawefu. And though the city was able to repel the attacks, they soon began to experience a shortage of resources and their economy began to decline once again.

In 1177, Lalawefu would succumb to a mysterious illness.
