Maira's older brother was a researcher at Poieten Oikos. Though he maintained a calm demeanor, Alkaios had an unshakable dedication to the star, and used his gifts to study the smallest specimens with the utmost care. The young man had a knack for time magicks in particular, and was frequently tasked with hastening the temporal flow of dying creations, that they might quickly and painlessly return to the star.
Alkaios was initially wary of Venat, fearing she would whisk his sister away on one of her journeys. Once he realized that Maira intended to remain in Elpis, he extended a hand in friendship to the Traveler, and enjoyed friendly debates with her from time to time.
