The Caliban Gorge

This ocean chasm is spoken of as the domain of Caliban, a great fish god of legend. The gorge's confusing topography is difficult to navigate, even for the Ondo, but those venturing deep are rewarded with the sight of sunken ships.

The Caliban Gorge is an area in The Tempest, Norvrandt.

Landmarks

The fish god Caliban is thought to have made its lair here, but no sign of the divine wavekin remains. Intruders are wise to be cautious, however, for there are always other predators in the sea.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 118

Another remnant of ancient civilization, centuries upon centuries of sediment have built up around this tower, leaving only its highest point still peeking out of the rock. How its unburied grandeur might have appeared in its day is a question answered only by one's imagination.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 118

The Ondo use the shells they gather from this cave to make dye, the purple hue prized as a symbol of nobility. It is said that Eulmore's obsession with the color purple can be traced back to these underwater origins.

Shadowbringers Sightseeing Log 44: Purpure

During the age when the elves reigned over Norvrandt, a jester by the name of Trinculo wagered he could walk on the surface of the Tempest. The clever fellow made good on his claim, but was dragged under the waves by a sudden storm. This rocky shelf is thought to be where his remains came to rest.
