Ser Tryphaniel
Ser Tryphaniel began his life as a lowborn who joined the Ishgardian military, and quickly gained the epithet "The Unshod" for his deeds on the battlefield. Due to his valor and accomplishments, he was given the honor of knighthood by the Ishgardian Orthodox Church, and became the champion of the common man. Known for his strong sense of justice, his goals and ambitions did not change even as he entered into a life of nobility. It was this same sense of justice and righteousness that led him to follow a priest to his home after observing him grab a young boy from the streets of The Brume. Upon entering the priest's home, he found the man performing unspeakable acts on the child. When the priest tried to explain away his actions, Ser Tryphaniel responded by simply drawing his blade and cutting the man down with a single swing.
Instead of being celebrated for his heroism, he was instead brought before the Holy See for the slaughter of a holy man and forced to fight for his life in a trial by combat. Though he survived, he was stripped of his knighthood and cast out of the Holy See for "falling to the darkness". To this, Ser Tryphaniel cast aside his crested shield, proudly exclaiming that he would gladly do so if it meant he must turn a blind eye to a child's suffering. Here he began his crusade to bring justice against those who were outside of the law, with no fear or forethought to what was considered "taboo" by others. His righteous deeds inspired some courageous few to follow in his footsteps. Thus would Ser Tryphaniel come to be known as the father of the Dark Knights.
