Umineko Teahouse
This humble teahouse owned and operated by Ume Kaukin is a popular spot to enjoy a brief respite while listening to the cat-like wauling of the gulls. Many praise the sweet dango, which comes in an assortment of vivid colors said to symbolize the seasons—pink for spring cherry blossoms, white for wintry snows, and green for fresh summer grass.
The Statue of Zuiko
Depicted in majestic detail astride his rearing steed is the great warlord Zuiko, revered founder of Suenokuni. While his realm occupies the southern region of Shishu encompassing Kugane, it must be noted that the port city's administration alone falls under bakufu jurisdiction.
