The Vath Hungerer seems distracted by something in the forest.

— In-game description

Steps

Journal

  • The Vath Hungerer seems distracted by something in the forest.
  • The Vath Hungerer explains that the nearby meliae interfere with the Vath's hunting and gathering. She asks you to kill four of the monsters, lest her tribe go hungry, unable to collect food.
  • You fell the meliae as requested. Return to the Hungerer with the good news.
  • The Hungerer tells you that, to the Vath, fighting is simply a means to gather food. The idea of attacking something inedible is unpalatable to them. Though, from the way they talk, it is clear they have tried to eat meliae before.

Dialogue

Accepting the Quest

The Hungerer: Greetings, hunter. Do you know the meliae? They wander the forest. We would like you to kill some.
Cibleroit: Why would you ask him to hunt meliae? You cannot eat them. They are far too tough!
The Hungerer: We do not want to eat them. We cannot eat them. Not one part of them is edible. But those evil creatures stop us from gathering food. They interfere with our hunting! Please kill four of them. It would make out lives much easier.

Optional Dialogue

The Hungerer: We are hungry, but cannot gather food. The meliae interfere. Please slay them for us.

Reporting to the Vath Hungerer

The Hungerer: Thank you, hunter. You are a strong ally.
Ciberloit: When we fight, it is only to hunt food. It is a waste to hunt what we cannot eat. We would only grow hungrier.
The Hungerer: You are right, Cibleroit. Hunting meliae is pointless. They taste terrible. They are tough and dry. You find yourself picking splinters from your mandibles for days afterwards.
