Dominiac wants to enact the next step in his plan.

— In-game description

Steps

  • Speak with Saintrelmaux.
  • Speak with Saintrelmaux.
  • Slay the aevis.
  • Speak with Saintrelmaux.
  • Report to Dominiac.

Journal

  • Dominiac wants to enact the next step in his plan.
  • Saintrelmaux should have finished preparations for the next stage of Dominiac's plan. He is waiting for you at the top of the cliff to the north of the Convictory.
  • The corpse of the wadjet you previously killed his attracted an aevis. The sly and cunning creature took off with the corpse before it could be stopped. Hurry to where it was last seen-- the bottom of the cliff northwest of the Convictory.
  • The aevis has fled to the west. It is now cornered in Dragonspit. Find it and finish it off.
  • You have dealt with the aevis. Let Saintrelmaux know.
  • Something about the beast you killed weighs heavily on Saintrelmaux. These wretched creatures were once men. They threw away their honor and nobility to become the things they are now. What could possibly be worth such a price? Leave Saintrelmaux to his thoughts and the job of collecting the aevis's corpse. Report back to Dominiac.
  • Dominiac thanks you once again for your help, and goes about setting the next stage of his plan in motion. You learn that Saintrelmaux was born into nobility but has, at some point, fallen from the High Houses' favor. It seems that the events surrounding that transition still haunt him.

Dialogue

Accepting the Quest

Dominiac: We're just about to carry out the next step of my plan! Saintrelmaux has finished his preparations, so he should be waiting for you out on the cliff to the north.
Dominiac: If all goes well, we will attract an even larger beast than before, so be on your guard!

Optional Dialogue

Dominiac: Saintrelmaux is waiting on the cliff to the north. We're expecting an even bigger beast than last time, so hurry—don't make him fight it alone!

Speaking with Saintrelmaux

Saintrelmaux: Did you see that aevis just now!? It snatched up the wadjet's corpse and made its escape!
Saintrelmaux: Our men are chasing the thing down as we speak. The bait was set under the cliff northwest of the Convictory—we should head there first, then follow the trail from there!
Saintrelmaux: Be on your guard. Aevis are renowned for their cunning.

Following Saintrelmaux in pursuit of the aevis

Saintrelmaux: It seems the aevis has fled to the northwest into Dragonspit. We'll block the exits and corner it—you get in there and help finish it off!

Optional Dialogue

Saintrelmaux: We've got it cornered, now. Follow the breast into Dragonspit and put it down.

Speaking with Saintrelmaux

Saintrelmaux: Did you slay it?
Saintrelmaux: Marvelous! Good work! Very good indeed...
Saintrelmaux: But, um, did you notice anything? About the aevis?
Saintrelmaux: It's just... it's just that I got to thinking while you were slaying it.
Saintrelmaux: Is it true—what they say? Did it speak?
Saintrelmaux: They say that aevis are what become of men—heretics who drink dragon blood. But, what could make a man...
Saintrelmaux's Retainer: Master Saintrelmaux...
Saintrelmaux: Yes, yes. Good work, [Forename]. We will collect the body of the beast. You should return to Dominiac and report our success.

Optional Dialogue

Saintrelmaux: Report our success to Dominiac. We shall see to the aevis's corpse.

Reporting to Dominiac

Dominiac: Ah, back already! Things are proceeding swimmingly, it seems.
Dominiac: But you look somehow troubled. What happened?
Dominiac: Hmmm. I suppose it's not surprising that he might say something like that.
Dominiac: Saintrelmaux was born into nobility. He knows all too well the pain of losing honor and status.
Dominiac: But that's all in the past now. I only hope that this experience might steel his resolve.
