Walkthrough

During this quest, Gulool Ja Ja will challenge the player to a duel, which will be in the form of a solo instance.

Aggressive difficulty r6.png Gulool Ja Ja

  • Fancy Bladework: Roomwide physical damage.
  • Dual Blows: One of Gulool's swords will begin glowing and have a one pip over it, followed by his other swords, which will have a two pip. These indicate late telegraphed half-room cleaves in the order they glow.
  • Steeled Strike: Gulool will summon a glowing white X covering most of the arena, indicating two late telegraphed line AoEs covering the X.
  • Coiled Strike: Gulool summons two blade symbols on the arena that will each have a shadow rotating towards one direction. This indicates two wide late telegraphed conal AoEs, leaving narrow safe regions directly behind the blade symbols outside of the shadow.
  • Battle Breaker: Gulool becomes untargetable and knocks the player back, immobilizing them for several seconds. After a cutscene, he will begin using summoning circle AoEs in a zigzag pattern, along with baited AoEs on the player.
  • Burning Sun: Summons three sets of red circle AoE telegraphs that briefly appear and disappear. When the resolve, some will also leave behind fire puddles.
  • Brawl Ender: A telegraphed knockback in the direction of the arrows, also doing physical damage. Position to be knocked back away from a puddle, or use knockback resist.
  • Doubling: Summons three untargetable Gulool Ja Ja's Shade adds, which jump to a wall (leaving half the room empty) and use Glory Blaze, late telegraphed line AoEs. Move to the empty side.
  • Doubling: Now summons one untargetable Gulool Ja Ja's Shade add, which will sequentially spawn a tower (The Thrill) that will need to be soaked. During this, Gulool will cast The Thrill himself, spawning another tower that will need to be soaked afterwards.
  • Doubling: Now spawns one add and is combined with Coiled Strike and two Steeled Strike telegraphs that resolve in sequence.
  • Doubling: Now spawns six adds, three of which will use the Glory Blaze line AoEs while Gulool uses Coiled Strike. Afterwards, one of the adds will use Steeled Strike, while the other two and Gulool will use The Thrill, spawning three towers in succession.
  • Later on in the battle, the player will be stunned again and will need to complete an Active Time Maneuver. If successful, the battle will conclude.

Steps

Journal

  • Wuk Lamat needs to pay a visit to the palace.
  • Wuk Lamat departs for Vollok Shoonsa, leaving you to your own devices. The suggestion to return to the For'ard Cabins and take a well-deserved rest, however, does sound very tempting...
  • You head back to the cabins only to find a Landsguard soldier awaiting your arrival. It seems the Dawnservant has summoned you to the palace, and you are to present yourself to the gate guard stationed outside Sunperch.
  • Heeding the soldier's advice, you proceed to your appointment dressed for battle. Yet for what reason might such preparations be warranted?
  • Upon entering Sunperch, Gulool Ja Ja soon makes it clear that his summons was an invitation to duel. You spar against the massive Mamool Ja, his powerful and viper-fast blows keeping you on your toes, until he is at last satisfied with your performance. Impressed by your battlecraft, the Dawnservant follows the bout with a father's earnest request to watch over his daughter. It is then that Wuk Lamat arrives. She chides Gulool Ja Ja for stealing away her champion, and exits the throne room with you in tow.
  • Annoyed by her father's antics, Wuk Lamat wonders if Gulool Ja Ja has been bothering you with things other than duels─a query you deflect with a noncommittal answer. The Dawnservant's plea remains at the forefront of your mind, however, as you accompany the Third Promise on the continuation of her journey.
