Mounts allow players to travel around Eorzea faster. After acquiring a mount, you can ride it by dragging the icon onto your action bar. Players can acquire their first mount, Company Chocobo, by playing through the main story and joining a Grand Company at around level 20. Other mounts can be acquired by completing different requirements. Heavensward, A Realm Reborn's first expansion introduces Flying Mounts.
- All mounts have the same movement speed increase.
- Enemies can still attack you while you are mounted. They can potentially injure your mount, slowing its movement speed significantly.

Flying mounts are a new type of mount to be introduced in Heavensward, revealed at the Fan Festival in London 2014. Flying Mounts are a type of mount that allows the player to take to the sky and roam the areas of Heavensward freely.
Before flying in a zone, players need to attune it first. After obtaining the permission, players can take to the fly with their flying mounts.
While flying, the flying mounts have 200% of the speed of a regular mount. While running on ground, the flying mounts have 90% of the speed of a regular mount.
You can fly / gain elevation by pressing the jump key.
You can escape enemies on the ground by flying.
