The Imperial Garlean Army
Lore
For long years, the Imperial Garlean Army had held the lands of Gyr Abania and Yanxia within its vicelike grip. Along the arduous road to freedom, the would-be liberators would encounter the implacable agents of this machine of conquest.
History
While each of the imperial army’s fourteen legions is formidable by any reckoning, the XIIth stands apart from them all. Commanded by none other than the crown prince Zenos yae Galvus, it is the occupying force of two distant lands, Gyr Abania in the west and Yanxia in the east.
Seventeen summers following Doma’s annexation, its governance was entrusted to the VIth Legion, led by Regula van Hydrus. As the mainstay of those forces loyal to Varis, however, the greater part of the legion was recalled to the Garlean motherland when the high legatus sensed a war of succession might soon erupt. Seeking to exploit the Empire’s fraying unity, it was at this juncture that Lord Kaien chose to mount his rebellion. In response, Varis sent the XIIth Legion, which crushed the rebels as quickly as they had risen. Thereafter, in order to keep the Domans under heel, Zenos appointed an acting viceroy to impose brutal rule, while he, by his own initiative, moved the bulk of his strength to Ala Mhigo, where a new conflict had begun to stir.
