Template:Tile grid

The template family Template:tile grid, Template:tile, Template:tile end, and Template:tile grid end are used to lay out information into bordered boxes, arranged into columns.

This may be more visually interesting than simple paragraphs. It may even help readability, especially on particularly long or repetitive pages, by helping to arrange the content into coherent topic chunks.

It works best if each box is roughly the same size -- it will look bad if you've got one box that's full of text and then an adjacent box that's mostly empty.

An advantage of the tile grid is that it will automatically adjust the number of columns in the grid to fit the user's screen. For example, on a phone the grid might have only 1 column, while on an ultrawide monitor there may be 5 or more columns.

Example usage:

{{tile grid}}
{{tile}}A{{tile end}}
{{tile}}B{{tile end}}
{{tile}}C{{tile end}}
{{tile}}D{{tile end}}
{{tile grid end}}

will produce:

A
B
C
D

If you find that the boxes are being stretched too wide or squeezed too narrow by default, you can change the minwidth parameter on the grid, e.g.:

{{tile grid|minwidth=100px}}

I don't recommend going above 500px or so -- larger widths will be harder to view on mobile.

You can also change the colour of the box border. For example, this:

{{tile|color=healer}}

will produce a box with a green border:

Look

at me!

I'm a

healer!
