Template:Article noun/doc

This is the documentation subpage of Template:Article noun. It contains usage information that is not part of the underlying template page.

Expands to the appropriate singular noun for referring to a page in the current namespace. Useful in meta-templates that may be used in multiple namespaces (e.g. the template documentation templates, which are also used to document modules and occasionally other things like maintenance categories).

For most namespaces, this is very similar to the namespace name, but some namespaces are handled uniquely:

• Pages in the main namespace get "article"
• Template pages get "template"
• Module pages get "module"
• Pages in the project namespace get "meta article"

Talk namespaces are also handled: template talk pages get "template discussion," etc.
