Things to do
- Put event start and end dates in SMW properties so we can query them
- Property:Event start timestamp and Property:Event finish timestamp; each can contain multiple values if the quest has reruns
- I think I added handling for this to {{event infobox}}? Not sure about {{eventspecial infobox}} or if it even gets used the same way
- {{event rerun}} exists but needs work
- Create a template that automatically displays notices
- Create a template for displaying a "Retired" or "Future content" notices on event quest/item pages
- Automate main page "current events" listing based on this data
- wasn't originally planning on this but we sure can do it!
I started the work for this a while ago and told myself "I'll probably fix this up and finish it tomorrow" and then several months passed. lmao. Erin Umbreon (talk) 19:49, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Project was mentioned on Discord and @Boblers also started working on User:Boblers/RecurringEvent which may be related.
There was some conversation about potentially reworking the event infobox to include all dates for recurring events, making {{event rerun}} obsolete, and setting semantic properties for event current-ness as part of that, which would make it really easy to integrate a "future content"/"retired" notice at the top of the page.
