Cliffhanger

High atop a lofty locale, a wayward chocobo chick with a wont for wanderlust chirps out in distress. Are you adventurer enough to brave the heights and rescue the frightened hatchling!?

Cliffhanger is a GATE in Gold Saucer. During this GATE, players are tasked with rescuing a stranded chocobo chick at the top of a series of platforms.

Guide

This GATE has two possible locations:

• Round Square to the north, where the chocobo chick is at the top of Mt. Corel, a rocky structrure. The NPC Disturbed Dowager is requesting help.
• Wonder Square to the south, where the chocobo chick is at the top of El Coloso, a large cactuar statue with several floating platforms around it. The NPC Stricken Schoolgirl is requesting help.

In either case, the player will need to speak with the GATE's NPC to initiate the challenge. Doing so will teleport the player onto the platforms, as the platforms normally cannot be reached from the ground floor.

As players climb, a goblin on the top platform will toss bombs that land among the platforms. Being caught in a bomb's blast deals a heavy radial knockback from the bomb's position, which will usually knock affected players off of the platforms - though it is possible to be knocked into a wall or even across platform gaps, depending on position. Should the player fall off of the platforms, they can speak with the GATE's NPC to try again.

Upon reaching the top, players need to interact with the chocobo chick to rescue it, finishing the GATE and granting a completion reward of  3,000.

• Prior to Patch 4.5, the reward was  2,000.

Additional Information

• Cliffhanger only has a chance to spawn on the hour, e.g. at 12:00PM.
